Fall’s Patterns and Prints: Pretty, Provocative, and Perfect

Patterns and prints can feel so timeless, while also feeling fresh at the same time. Each season new interpretations of the hottest prints are showcased on the runway. Following are the most on-trend, favorite prints for Fall 2011 that we can’t wait to wear!

1. Plaid – The classic school uniform print has gone from good girl to edgy. Plaid can be oh-so chic on and off the runway. Seen on scarves, bags, pants, ponchos and more, this pattern is always appropriate for fall weather.

2. Polka Dot – A “spot-on” trend right now, polka dots are DEFINITELY making a fashion-forward statement. Marc Jacobs set the tone with his head to toe dotted looks, however for a more realistic approach try micro dot polka dot tights, a sheer polka dot blouse, or even a blazer. Animals Come Alive in Jill Stuart’s Fall 2011 Collection

Jill Stuart achieves color-blocking in a remarkable way for her Fall 2011 collection. Stuart uses vibrant jewel tones, such as, teal, red, emerald, and amber, while combining a little sparkle in a pleated ensemble. A fairy tale came to life, as a literal animal theme decorated below-the-knee silk dresses with large printed owls and foxes. Complimenting the animal inspiration from Heidi Specker’s photos of the Black Forest in Germany, Stuart’s collection had “Bambi” deer furs, leather accents, and chunky knits that are perfect for the fall. Jill Stuart’s Fall 2011 collection is feminine, flirty, chic, and made for the fashion-forward woman.

Devoted to creating dresses that flatter every woman, David Meister’s F/W 2010 collection exudes appeal, rich with texture and diverse shapes. His day frocks embody the menswear-for-women aesthetic, comprised of knit and tweed with surprising details on the simple and classic designs. The Bergdorf Signature line is more formal in function and appearance, taking a ball gown shape glammed up with silver accents and  fitted bodices that give any woman seductive curves. His evening looks consist of asymmetrical cocktail dresses and strapless gowns. David Meister takes comfort into consideration when creating the collection and, accordingly, his looks are 90% stretch and knit. Trend Alert: Leopard Print

One of the prominent trends spotted on the spring 2009 runway was most definitely leopard print. We saw the wild design in a spectrum of colors and speckled across everything from Louis Vuitton bags to Zac Posen dresses.
