The Collection: Louis Vuitton Fall 2013
The Theme: Taking a Mid-Century Leisurely Lounge
The Color Palette: Muted jewel tones (mainly blue, teal), beige
About the Collection: According to the runways for fall, astrakhan is back (sigh), along with a level of unabashed exhibitionism, as on display at Louis Vuitton via the negligees, silken pajamas, and long, loung-able robes transported around on the lithe models making the transition from belonging to the most intimate of settings to become passable as outerwear. The bags, the brand’s bread and butter, remain steady in their shaping, however get a royal treatment of exotic skins and fur for a purposeful hard meets soft appeal.
The Collection: Miu Miu Fall 2013
The Theme: Return to Oz
The Color Palette: Baby pink, black, bumblebee yellow.
About the Collection: Dots, stripes, astrakhan again (double sigh), Mary Janes, exposed zippers, oversized hardware, ostrich bags, and Pepto-Bismal pink seemed to be the best of the collection that somehow took harsh contrasts and made them into covetable must-haves come fall. With a bit of a Wicked Witch vibe, Miu Miu shows that polka dots and cartoon-like color combinations are sticking around for another season or two, and feels fresh with a zany stripe contrast. The standout from the collection, and most easily adaptable aspect into the everyday wardrobe is the layering, peek-a-boo options as seen in the top image.
