Forget about pyramids and studs– ear cuffs are the new cool, edgy jewelry item to try! From large crystals cascading down the ear to a row of pearls and multifaceted, colorful gems, there’s certainly an ear cuff out there for you! My favorite is the clear cut crystal variety with a vintage aesthetic, as it seems to be the most versatile for a variety of occasions. Instead of placing it through your pierced ear, look for ear cuffs that can distribute the weight by anchoring on your ear via clips at the top and bottom of the piece.
Some will actually cuff onto the top of the ear or run along the outside length while others will come in a set of two, to cuff one on each ear, or to merely place both on one ear (top earring will be placed over the ear cartilage, the bottom on the lobe). Looking for a DIY option? Fina an old broach with a design similar to the cuffs above, buy some earring converter clips to work around the pin of the broach, or resort to some strong jewelry glue like E6000, and affix them to the back of the broach.
Wearing an ear cuff for every day or special occasions can be very easy; just remember that the cuff should steal the show, but it’s all about balancing everything else. If you’re going to sport the cuff on one ear, fill the other one with a simple stud earring in a metal tone that plays well with the color of the cuff. Add a bit of color interest and color into the rest of your wardrobe, since here with a geometric print combination found in the dress, smooth leather jacket, a nubby espadrille heel and canvas bag.
