I know that skinny jeans won’t be around forever, but what is the next evolution for denim cuts? if the Spring 2011 runways were any indication, a flare leg is coming back into style. I was glad when Hudson Jeans offered me their latest style, the Beth Baby Boot, to try out. I wasn’t sure if this leg would work for me, and could hardly remember the days before the skinny jean – how would I adjust my wardrobe to reflect a new style? Natural indigo dyed Brigg wash, fitted, and low rise, the Baby Boot retails for $198, and I think, gave me a bit more of a statuesque appeal for my 5’1 frame. The flare for the boot cut portion is a perfect transition away from skinny jeans; it just gives a little bit of volume, without a full blown boot leg to get adjusted to.

Is anything cooler than a classic pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers? Not really. They remind me of everything from James Dean rebel attitude to the Ramones, Joan Jett, and generally kick ass style with a bit of edge. Never owning the real deal, I took shadesdaddy up on their offer to try a complimentary pair of sunglasses from the site. While perusing, I discovered that the site offers a lot of brands that I like, such as Versace, Ralph Lauren, Chloe, Kate Spade, and Marc Jacobs sunwear at discounted prices of 30%-50% off . They hold a 100% authentic guarantee on their products, and I noticed, particularly with Ray-Ban, that they have the newest stock keeping items available. I went with the Ray Ban Wayfarer Limited Edition Rare Print Sunglasses, that posses a white streak across the top and vibrant hazy floral pattern on the inside.

After ordering my selection, the shades arrived so quickly I had to do a double take on the address label, and the packaging was gorgeous perfection. Another thing I like about shadesdaddy is that they actually did their homework and add some history and interesting info about the brands offered; for example the Bottega Veneta page it talks about the brand’s history of craftmanship and what you can expect from its shades – bravo! Check out the site’s specials and additional discounts at its blog or on the Facebook page.

Pamella Roland Spring 2011
The Pamella Roland presentation was a lovely cocktail party at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The mannequins were set up around the perimeter of the space decked out in Pamella’s elegant evening wear or dressed up day wear. My faves were definitely the trench coat that reaches the floor, and the organically stripped one shoulder dress belted at the waist.

G-Star RAW Spring 2011
The star-studded
G-Star RAW show was held in Chelsea Piers this season on Pier 94. The denim line was inspired by the desert with fully functional pieces and fabrics reminiscent of parachute material. The color scheme showed a range of blue, sand, black, and white. I particularly liked the open back cut of pieces in the women’s line and the over-sized hoods. Menswear had great jackets with mandarin/motorcycle collars and new lengths on pants. I noticed the ‘fanny pack’ being brought back in a whole new way – over-sized and actually worn over the ‘fanny’! All in all, a great show to watch and some interesting newness to add to dress casually for spring .
