French Fashion Shop Promod Comes to the U.S.

When one of Europe’s premier brands opens a store in the U.S., it’s certainly cause for celebration! Now the latest in French fashions can be brought your closet with the help of Promod. Founded in France in 1975, Promod takes its inspiration directly from the runway and translates it into accessible, and most importantly, highly affordable pieces that will have you looking très chic, churning out around 3000 new pieces per year! As France’s biggest fashion store chain, Promod can currently be found internationally in over 1036 locations and counting.

With its “Folk” collection, you’ll find Guatemalan and Aztec-inspired pieces in the form of tribal patterned skirts, embroidered accents, and woven dresses in a bold color palette of red, turquoise and emerald.

Its “City Woman” collection offers versatile work wear that will up your professional wardrobe’s game with dark florals, fitted blazers, and essential embroidered pieces. A recent trip to the store also showcased the impressive line of accessories via shoes, handbags, and jewelry to complete each look. They say that you can’t buy style, but with a little help from Promod, you’ll definitely be on the right track. Referencing the artwork of Georgy Kurasov, Dana Maxx applied cubist’s preoccupation with shape and form to create pieces that are sculptural and striking in their color and composition. The collection worked on both ends of the spectrum, with half of the pieces presented in solid colors displaying different shades of pink, blue, or grey, while the latter half featured abstract prints, whose forms blurred together like watercolors on a painter’s palette.

The idea of taking cutouts and placing them in interesting areas was another concept that emerged for the designer for this collection. One particular leather and jersey shirt was slashed at the neckline, allowing parts of the wearer’s collarbone and shoulders to be exposed. Combined together, these color-blocked, cut-out pieces are sure to turn a few heads once spring arrives.

My Street Style Photoshoot with T.J.MAXX & Amy Creyer

Since I can speak from experience, there’s no better way to learn than by doing, and thanks toAmy Creyer, street style photographer and blogger behind Chicago Street Style, and T.J.MAXX, I have a better understanding and execution of how things work behind, and in front of the camera. With myself and just six other bloggers in tow, we picked from amongst a well-edited selection of finds from T.J.MAXX (everything but my earrings, eyeglasses, and ring are from the store!), grabbed a courtesy camera (the Canon PowerShot SX 170 IS ), and hit the streets of the West Village with Amy.

It’s great to know that you can always find amazing photo shoot-worthy items at T.J.MAXX, with a new rotation of designer items constantly arriving. I felt ultra “downtown cool” in the duds I selected, all available at, of course, T.J.MAXX (jacket: DOMA, dress, Zac Posen, shoes, Donald J. Pliner), while talking a stroll down memory lane, posing in front of the now-closed famous nightclub spot, Don Hill’s, I place I frequented while a youngster studying at New York University.
