Picking a favorite outfit during New York Fashion Week isn’t exactly akin to picking your favorite child, but there’s always a diplomatic way to answer the question, i.e. “Well Sally, you’re my favorite female child,” when indeed, little Sally is the only female child in the family. So I guess what I could say is that this particular look is my favorite graphic black and white look from New York Fashion Week, as I couldn’t help but play with the strips and polka dots as much as possible, accentuated by a vibrantly-shaded hobo bag.
After about a week now at fashion week-related endeavors, comfort is king, and this dress and shoes are right where I want to be. Add a waterfall braid, a bright lip, and some opulent jewels, and I’m good to go. See you tomorrow for my final look from New York Fashion Week!

It’s so interesting to see the wide range of sartorial choices that people make to wear to fashion week, as well as a sneak peek of what to expect for the upcoming season by what’s worn on the runway. There’s no denying that sky high heels aren’t going anywhere, but on the contrary, comfort still prevails by way of slip-ons and lace-up sneakers.
One major, undeniable trend in footwear is white leather, with every style from sandals to brogues reigning supreme. Another is metallic shoes — from Birkenstock styles to flatforms and wedges, super shiny metallic shades were major, as well as ones with a holographic finish to them.
Black and white combos were also all over, from the runway to the show attendees, which is also a super easy coupling to pair with practically everything in your existing wardrobe.
Last, flat, thickly strapped sandals, with no, or a cushy marshmallow sole are going to be everywhere for spring 2015; you may want to decide now if you love or hate the look so that you can get a pair (or not) ahead of time.

By day 6 of New York Fashion Week, I’ve pretty much decided that it’s okay to take a day off from a heavy duty hair style and makeup look, and hey, who knows; I may not even put my contact lenses in today. It’s all about effortless elegance, something easy to wear and pair, and sophisticated enough to solicit a compliment or two along the way.
In my opinion, what I just described is called a jumpsuit, and by wearing a few great pieces of jewelry with it, I’m all set! It was also my lucky day, as my newest lipstick from NARS matched the pinkish-red hue in the jumpsuit perfectly.

The Theme: California Girls in the 70’s
The Color Palette: ivory, cherry blossom pink, ice blue, cream
About the Collection: While it may seem like a rite of passage for Summer/Spring RTW collections to showcase generous splashes of colors and a kaleidoscope of dazed prints, BCBGMAXAZRIA embraced a clean slate. The sensual and soft color palette played a supporting role to the stark juxtaposition of the fabrics that came into play. For instance, chiffon sleeves breathed a sigh of relief against the more structured and dense, quilted vests. Peek-a-boo sashes emblazoned on the sides or backs of flowing dresses hinted at Asian influences. In fact, California girls during the ‘70s inspired Creative Director Lubov Azria, and with that in mind, it’s clear that the collection evoked the West Coast bohemian ease and sophistication.
The Show: Desigual
The Theme: Tropical Garden Goddess
The Color Palette: teal, onyx, poppy red, lime
About the Collection: Bouquet-sized flower crowns resembling a garden goddess? Count me in. Freshly picked dahlias and tropical hibiscus soaked in saturated hues such as onyx and poppy red were only a handful of the Carmen Miranda-esque headpieces. After all, what better way to cheekily embrace nature? To compliment such eye-catching crowns, the brand re-partnered with Christian Lacroix for garments starring hard-hitting, psychedelic prints inspired by the abundance of flora and fauna. Just picture yourself soaking some UV in one of Desigual’s fresh renditions of the tourists’ classic, a Hawaiian shirt.
The Show: Nicholas K
The Theme: Utilitarian Safari Explorer
The Color Palette: white, military green, periwinkle, black, camel
About the Collection: With the blazing heat, it only made sense that the overarching theme at Nicholas K was safari desert chic. Layers of languid pajama-like cargos and coats lithely floated as sporadic fringe tassels and even faux pony hair placed by the hips added piques of impulsive attention. Natural, Safari tones such as camel and military green hinted at earthy tones, which flattered the background beating of the drums..
