Is it really true that fall, and heading back to school , is RIGHT around the corner?
I feel like I didn’t get a chance to fully take advantage of the summer yet, but at least I can look forward to some fab fall trends, like studded flats, the continuation of neon, and platform sneakers.
Enticed with a complimentary gift card from Famous Footwear, I decided to stop in the 34th Street location in Manhattan to check out the latest style and brand arrivals for fall/back-to-school shopping.
It’s been a while since I shopped for footwear from a back-to-school perspective but I can vividly remember at least four stle my Mom permitted me to pick up at the Famous Footwear located just across the river from where we grew up. Those “had to have” items for back-to-school included: Air Jordans (the originals, of course!), Hush Puppies (in a light tan, to match my school uniform), white leather K-Swiss, and Sporto boots; yeah, I was at the height of style, even then!
Times and silhouettes may have changed, but as my recent visit proves, Famous Footwear is still a go-to for name brands at great prices. I had trouble choosing among three styles, so tell me which one you like the best: a jazzed up flat, a black “go with everything flat,” or wedge sneaker!! And, technically, I am going back to school, but as a professor instead of a student, so I think that still qualifies me for back-to-school gear! The Steve Madden P-Heaven in Black Crinkle Patent, $44.99, possesses the perfect texture and look to work in a myriad of situations, from work to play!
I’ve heard some people complain that sneaker wedges aren’t as comfy as they look, but I found the Madden Girl Hickory, $49.99, ones to be extremely lightweight and totally comfortable
The Roxy Jolie Studded Flats, $39.99, was super light and flexible, perfect for changing into on the fly when heels have reached their daily walking limit! Plus, in my opinion, camo is perennially on-trend!
