Fashion week is just two weeks away (eek! yay!), February 12th-19th, and before my coverage switches over to include the latest happenings, events, trends and excitement from the fall/winter 2015 collections, I thought I’d get in a few more rounds of the Fashion Pulse Flash, including the latest and greatest from around the fashion and beauty worlds.
Let’s kick off this Flash edition with a great example of both! The hot, brand new “Beauty Genie in a Bottle” collab between Benefit Cosmetics and BaubleBar features three very different gift sets, which include “Sparkle, Shine & All Things Fine,” “Real Romance & A Rosy Future” and “Love, Luck & Long Lashes,” and what you’ll find inside is one BaubleBar accessory coupled with one to two iconic Benefit products. These kits have the potential of making a great Valentine’s Day or birthday gift, retailing for $34 each at both of the brands’ sites. Plus, you can enter to win up to $100 off at both sites by playing a game with Genie Simone (you basically just enter your email address; it’s painless, I promise!).
When you’ve got a great beauty option that stays clear of toxins…why not give it a try? Over the past week I tested out Void Beauty, an awesome new line completely free of the five major toxins commonly found in most nail polish: formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene and camphor. It’s also cruelty free, vegan, and made in the USA, in case you needed a few other reasons to give it a go.
The important fact to know about Void Beauty is that in it’s wear test on my nails this week, it performed just like any other polish I’ve tried; i.e. it stayed put just as long/ I destroyed it at the same rate as the other name brand polishes out there. It also came off of my nails with extreme ease, no small feat since I had at one point, three coats, plus a base coat, on my digits. At $18 per bottle, it’s not cheap, however you pay for what you get, and in this case, a gorgeously designed bottle, great colors and formula, and the assurance that you can trust it won’t do any harm to you while your nails look shiny and stylish.
A friend introduced me to Lu Camarena Meshulam, founder and CCO of LuMESH Cosmetics, and upon testing the brand’s cult classic lip gloss, I can certainly see why I had to know about it. In a nutshell, it’s just so easy to use, offering up a side mirror as part of its packaging for ease of application, a non-sticky, non-tacky formula, is free of that worrisome stuff such as parabens, sulfates, phthatlates, and synthetic fragrance. Now let’s talk about the lip gloss itself: the hues are optimized to work with all skin tones, and illuminates from the undertones of skin as well, so that you get the most gorgeous, luminous swathe of color. I tested Sadie (pictured above), but there’s plenty more colors that will impart a great sheer touch of incredible gloss to the lips. Shop the glosses at one of my favorite beauty destinations, Birchbox, in-store in Soho, or online. LuMESH lip glosses are $24 each, while the lip/cheek sticks are $36 each.
