redken

Hellooo Redken fans! Not only is the new product packaging AWESOME, but the products are ALL goodies! Picking favorites, the two that will be impossible to pry from my hands the next few months are the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer, which reduces blow dry time and protects from the heat, and the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, a dry shampoo that has a bit of a matte texture to it, perfect for updos and to sustain your professional of self-done blow out for a few extra days. Plus, it masks “oily hair smell” with a pleasant scent.

If the cream/wax/paste style of product is more your speed, the Redken Styling Flex Collection boasts three fab new ones: Move Ability 05, Mess Around 10 and Shape Factor 22. These have the opportunity to add texture, hold, and body to the hair, with the option to also be blended together to achieve a larger variety of results!

Morgan Taylor

Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer has arrived! I was like a kid in a candy store over the past few weeks, trying out dozens of shades and categories (sheer, shimmer, cream, metallic, sparkle) from the brand, which does capsule collections six times a year. A major bonus of the polishes, besides it’s EXCELLENT price ($8.50 per bottle) is that they are all 3-Free, which means no DBP, toulene, or formaldehyde chemicals.  Although the line is less than a year old since its inception, there are already 100 shades to choose from, and as you can tell from the pic above, I’m completely obsessing over the icy, opaque, pastel shades for spring; which hue is your “it” shade for the season? See Morgan Taylor’s website for an assortment of must-have hues!

Born Free Collection

I’d love to talk for a moment about the Born Free Collection, based on prints from Wangechi Mutu, a celebrated Kenyan-born New York- based visual artist, with a mission to eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission by December 31st, 2015. Available exclusively at Shopbop, the 50-item, limited edition collection with most items under $250 is comprised of designs for both women and children by 22 designers, with looks as diverse as the designers themselves. As an important note, the designers themselves are all mothers, further connecting them to the cause, including Consuelo Castiglioni (Marni), Alberta Ferretti, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan (DKNY and Urban Zen), Isabel Marant, Marchesa, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo (Celine), Miuccia Prada,  and more. This designer collection is a great way to support the cause, especially given that one pill a day has the potential to save a child from HIV, and with funding from this line, it’s certainly well within reach.

maybellien colossal

I think I’ve made it pretty well known that I’ve been obsessed with Great Lash, The Falsies, and the latest, Big Eyes, from Maybelline’s roster of mascaras, but I now need to add the Maybelline Pumped Up!  Colossal by Volum’Express into the mix! Arriving in stores this June and retailing for around $7.77, the ultra intense double curved stem brush fully distributes the collagen plumping formula with a result of 16x the volume. I was pleased to note no clumps made their way onto my lashes, and even my husband gave me a straightforward compliment, “your eyes do look prettier.” What more could I ask for?

essie too tabooo neon collection

essie has declared that it is time you seriously commit to wearing neon shades on your nails, so…let’s do it! With the too taboo neon collection for 2014, you can choose from six fabuloso shades to get your digits as vibrant as your clothing, and of course, the names of each of the colors are just so wonderful (too taboo, chills & thrills,  I’m addicted, vices versa, serial shopper (my fave), and sittin’ pretty). Per usual, they retail for $8.50, and are available starting this month at fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.

So I guess the socks and sandals combo is officially a trend now…  (Chanel even combine the sock and pump into one unit). I’m not sure how I feel about it, but since the weather hasn’t quite been toe-bearing warmth yet, I may just give it a go since it’s kind of frosty outside (I mean, it’s May already!!!). Kushyfoot has come good looking options that can ease you into experimenting with the trend, such as this Sheer Anklet style (I prefer it in black; $3.99 each), which is pretty fool-proof in pairing it with a variety of styles, ranging from flats to flatforms, super stacked wedges, to stiletto-heeled peep toes.
