Since the past two weeks have had so much going on, it’s been difficult for me to keep up with it all, and I’ve been the one experiencing it! Not that I’m complaining though, because I’ve truly had some incredible experiences. I thought I’d share some of my most memorable experiences from fashion week and even a bit afterward, that run the gamut from the shows to the exclusive access to lounges and designers. Come along with me on this special, post-New York Fashion Week flash edition!
Dove encouraged an overnight stay at the ultra-hip and luxurious The Quin Hotel on the eve of fashion week so that I could wake up and shower with one of their new body washes; how cool is that? Of the options in my hotel room, I selected the new Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash with NutriumMoisture, which you may have heard about as part of the “One Shower Challenge” Dove was recently advertising. As the new body washes are both mild and hydrating, the brand promises that your skin will feel softer and smoother after only one shower! My skin certainly felt awesome, but I’m of course biased; I love everything Dove does! The new Dove body washes with NutriumMoisture retail for $4.49-$6.99, depending on the size and kind, at food, drug, and mass retailers beginning this month.
It’s cool enough that I get to pop backstage with TRESemmé at New York Fashion Week so that I can see their lead stylists work their magic, but I also got to have brunch with the team, with stylist Jeanie Syfu breaking down some of the looks created during the week, emphasizing some of the trends and how to make them work for you (braids, mixed textures), alongside what products to use. This is one of my favorite way to cap off fashion week! I also had the talented stylists at the TRESemmé lounge dry style my hair twice, which was a thrill each time, as I barely had time to wash my hair each day, let alone create a ‘do.
NARS’ 20th Anniversary Party was such a star-studdd affair that every time I would start to shimmy my way toward the exit, another fabulous celebrity would enter, delaying my departure even further! Co-hosted by the man of the hour, Francois Nars, alongside Linda Evangelista and Simon Doonan, the party not only kicked off fashion week properly but also celebrated an enduring brand that is beloved around the world and never ceases to amaze with its collaborations and formulations. Lately, I’ve been rotating between Lana and Grace from the new Audacious Lipstick Collection, with the 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS nail polish in Gold Viper on my claws.
It wouldn’t be a normal fashion week without paying a visit to my friends at the Style Coalition NYFW Influencer Lounge this season with TotallyHer and Burt’s Bees. I indulged in some nail art, lip crayons, and a massage in between my running around, and bumped into a few friends while there!
A special thanks to my friends at T.J.Maxx, Marimekko, and Sorrelli for outfitting me during fashion week! I certainly wouldn’t have been so stylishly prepared without the help of my friends at these awesome brands! Head over to my “personal style” category and scroll down for my looks from the week.
At the nearby Hudson Hotel, I was able to get an hour and a half of pure, uninterrupted down time thanks to the Re:fresh Space service, which provides a private room and accoutrements to shower, update your makeup or hair, nap, drink hot tea, or even do a face steaming! It was pretty luxurious, and just what I needed so that I could sort through my bag and just lean up against something for a bit!
I got glam in a jiffy thanks to BetsyElisa Inc, the hair and makeup duo who have worked on celebrities at MTV and now have launched their Beauty Bar, an on-site, on-demand mobile beauty service that comes to you. I let the gals work on me, and my enhancement was so great that I had to make sure the hubby took me out to dinner after fashion week to flaunt my gorgeous looks and glamorous face! Space 530 hosted a NYFW Lounge for hair and makeup touch ups, so once again, I popped by to get my hair and makeup done; how could I resist? Conveniently located in the Garment District, the conceptual facility features showrooms to rent along with conference rooms, mobile work areas, and a virtual office.
My friend Deanne at Avant Collective hosted a NYFW Lounge, with accessories by Lions in Four, yummy drinks by Vital Juice, hats by Kangol, and portraits by talented illustrator Jane Kirby. It was a nice reprieve from the fashion week hub at Lincoln Center, and I
BWR’s NYFW Style Stop provided meet and greets with some great accessories and beauty brands, including Stella & Dot jewelry, Poppin desktop organizers, she + lo handbags, Happy Plugs earbuds, and Bite Beauty (pictured above), who brought their mobile lip lab so that custom lip colors could be created! I made a vibrant hue of pink with a mint scent and a luminous crème finish.
HSN‘s lounge during fashion week provided the opportunity to interact with some great accessories and apparel…and the faces behind those brands! KO Stories by Kelly Osbourne, Rara Avis by Iris Apfel, G by Giuliana Rancic, Snob Essentials by Tina Craig and Kelly Cook, June by June Ambrose, and more were featured, although I surely can’t get enough of Iris Apfel’s style (bangle bracelets from the line featured above).

To round out the week, my friend Sarah Conley of Style IT featured me in her “Really Red” section of her site, in which I share my favorite shade of red lipstick and some tips to achieving an ideal red-lipped look.
