Sephora, everybody’s favorite beauty retailer, further reinforces my belief that beauty is the ultimate accessory with a collaboration of beauty tools and accessories with jewelry designer Alexis Bittar. Bittar infuses his signature organic shapes, lucite materials, and embellishments into the makeup brushes and compact mirror, finished offed with an opulent coat of 24 karat plated gold.

Did you know that you can take Beauty Classes at Sephora for FREE? I know it seems too good to be true, but I swear I would never lie to you; to start, sign up to be a Beauty Insider (that way the classes are free!), and scroll to the bottom of this page and enter your zip code to locate the store nearest you.
Next, view the “Events and Classes” section to find which of the nine courses will be happening and when. Taught by knowledgeable makeup artists that are on staff at Sephora, classes last about an hour and options include Skin Care Basics, False Eyelashes, Modern Eye Makeup. and Contouring + Highlighting.
I tested out the service by taking a class on Contouring + Highlighting, which even as a beauty professional, I’ve found to be quite daunting to master, so getting some great tips and hands-on help while trying it again was extremely helpful. Some helpful tips included “finding your contour” by placing your fingers below the ears down to the bottom of the cheekbone and opening the mouth, and bringing the contour in to 2-3 fingers length from the mouth. While products to use were discussed, they were not stressed as must-haves, which I liked. Sephora even has an entire section dedicated to contouring on the site so that you can find the products that will work best for you. I left the class with a good grasp on the techniques, and am thrilled that such a service is easily accessible and you know, free! What class are you excited to take?
Do you live in the New York City area? How about Brooklyn? And did you know that a gorgeous new 2,200-square foot Sephora inside JCPenney location just opened up at Gateway Center? The new beauty destination includes about 50 brands, in addition to Sephora’s own line of makeup, tools, accessories and skincare. Staffed with product consultants trained by Sephora, you’ll be able to utlize its signature services, such as SEPHORA + PANTONE COLOR IQ to get your perfect foundation match or a complimentary Express service beauty touch up that includes Smoky Eye, Treat and Conceal, and Perfect Lips. While you are there, stroll around the corner and pick up some fashion accessories and apparel at JCPenney from brands like Lulu by Lulu Guinness, Nicole by Nicole Miller, and Kara Ross.
Last, let it be known that I’m obsessed with Marc Jacobs Beauty (Remedy Concealer Pen and the Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick are favorites), and now have a new product to add to the list: the O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara ($26). There’s certainly a lot to love about it, but let’s start with the brush: two different brushes have actually been sewn together to provide both lash separation and mega-volume and curl. What an awesome idea! The formula also is what I look for in a mascara — one with conditioning properties, as it includes essential oils along with vitamins B5 and C. Sounds pretty fabulous? It most certainly is, and is only available at Sephora, select Marc Jacobs stores, and at MarcJacobsBeauty.com.
