At the ENK Accessorie Circuit Tradeshow this week, I couldn’t help but ooh and aah over a brand that I was actually unfamiliar with, Nocturne. Based out of London, the contemporary jewelry and clothing line has a strong eastern vibe while executing exceptional craftsmanship to produce visually stunning and statement-making pieces. The jewelry, some with backing and others not, had each stone, crystal, or bit of fabric attached by hand, by artisans in Nanzha, China.
Of course, I had to immediately rush to one of their retailers, Shopbop, to buy a piece! I know that figuring out what to pair with statement jewelry can sometimes be intimidating, so with a gorgeous over sized piece as my focus, here’s what would look great styled with a Nocturne Necklace, or any statement kind of necklace, for that matter! .

J.Crew Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket in Camo
J.Crew Marled Drop Shoulder Sweater, in Marled Pepper
Inked LOFT Bi-Stretch Zip Pocket Skinny Pants in Marisa Fit
Nocturne Elizabeth Necklace
KATE SPADE NEW YORK 12 Kt. Gold-Plated Clear Glass Stud Earrings
Clarks Lida Piper Booties

The Jessa d’Orsay pump by Signature from Shoedazzle is under $50 (and much less if you’re a VIP member), and a great way to boost an evening look while adding in a bit of heel interest via the beige back and black heel. So with three colors to match, what exactly would you pair this with? I recently wore it to a holiday party, dressed in head-to-toe black and my moment in them was immortalized via the innovative 3D printing technology through a Shapeways statue of my husband and I as a fun souvenir from the event (click the thumbnail with the arrows to see me, and the heels, in rotation!).

So besides wearing all black and letting the red pop, you can also make the overall look a bit more of a statement with a cool space-age print and some luxe accessories. Here’s what I propose, mixing high and low, and a few neutral hues and metallic to get a coveted look:

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the imbued deeper meaning behind selecting and wearing particular products, taking pause to dwell on the conscious and unconscious sentiments triggered by a certain piece of clothing or even the scent of a familiar fragrance resurfacing in my life. With that in mind, I wanted to explore a “pair it with this” category, in which I featured anything from a fragrance, lipstick, or accessory coupled with the rest of the puzzle – what you would pair with!
Fragrances can invoke a certain mood, personality, time of year, and occasion, so i thought it would be a great way to kick off the segment by connecting the new Clinique Calyx fragrance (priced from$54-$69) with a look that would go in tandem with the fruity floral fragrance. This unique, distinct scent is an effervescent bloom of lightness and a touch of sensuality, thanks to the notes of citrus (mango, grapefruit, mandarin, guava), floral (freesia, rose, jasmine, neroli), and greens(sandalwood, vetiver, oakmoss).
Originally released in 1986 and now brought back into the fold by Clinique, it embodies both classic and modern sensibilities, with a brisk, clean finish. Thinking about this, I envisioned a structured look that didn’t take itself too seriously, hence, I opted to wear/pair the scent with apparel and accessories that do the same thing; classic silhouettes with modern updates, not revealed in the cuts but sexy in its high style quotient.

80’s inspired neons are having a flashy flashback moment! From Nanette Lepore‘s jackets and handbags, to Rag and Bone’s electric turquoise and orange, the Spring 2012 runways popped in anything-but-boring neons.
You can be a total knockout in these hues with a few simple tips and learn how to compliment your skin tone. This is an easy trend to pull off if you simply know your neons, and we are here to help!
For those with fairer skin, hot pink is is calling your name. Avoid green and yellow as these tend to wash you out. If you have an olive complexion, shine on in vivid tangerines and corals. Those with darker skin will stand out in lime greens and bold yellows. Continue reading…
