Osmia Organics Handmade Soap is THE Most Beautiful Gift For Your Body

Osmia, which founder Dr. Sarah Villafranco defines to mean a “sense of smell,” involves an incredible craftmanship in the handmade process of soapmaking, and brings forth natural, organic ingredients to create a a moisturizing product that also bears beautiful designs. Speaking of the latter,  I tested out the Oh So Soap (comprises mostly olive oil and mango butter), Milky Rose (organic buttermilk powder, bitter orange, and palmarosa essential oils, with organic rose petals as decor on the top), and Lavender Shea (made from Bulgarian lavender and organic, extra-virgin olive oil and shea butter) options. Priced at $12, these artisanal beauties arrived with a lovely soap saver tray to keep them in tact, important especially for the summer heat since the glycerin found in natural, handmade soaps can tend to get quite malleable. These bars, great for all skin types, emit delectable, relaxing, and rejuvenating aromas, with no additives for color or fragrance. I think our household is now going to be an Osmia household, putting out a fresh bar when we have over night guests visiting.

Ready for Hawaii? Let’s Go!!

I’ve got some fantastic news: as of Friday, I am now a married lady! We are taking this week to catch our breathe, regroup, start to work on those thank-yous, and get ready for Phase II – the honeymoon! Fashion Pulse Hubby and I will be heading to Hawaii, and it couldn’t come soon enough. I will soon post pics, particularly the fashion and beauty ones from the wedding, but in the meanwhile, I’ve got some fabulous gifts in tow that I’m throwing into my suitcase before I forget. I certainly can’t take a vacation. let alone a honeymoon, without my chic, new Robert Verdi Aviators, packed along side a new pair of Call It Spring flip flops and a matching towel – super cute, right?

We have exploring beaches, hiking, ATV tours, and more on our agenda, and everyone advises to come equipped with bug repellent. Luckily, I’ve already got the situation under control and carry-on friendly,  thanks to Avon’s SKIN SO SOFT Bug Guard Plus Picaridin Towelettes and the SKIN SO SOFT Bug Guard Plus Expedition SPF 30 Pump Spray. Fashion Pulse Mom hooked me up with a beautiful Missoni dress and Tiffany bracelet to wear, so it looks like all I need at this point is to remember to throw in my bathing suit! Beauty Lessons: How to Clean Your Hair Brushes

A hair brush is one of those things that you certainly usevery day of your life, BUT do you remember the last time that you cleaned it? Every time you use your brush it comes in contact with greasy hair follicles, dust particles, as well as any product you use in your hair. Over time, all this dirt and grime builds up and gets spread throughout your hair every time you brush and style it. The solution to all this messiness? A good old fashioned brush bath. This simple method will extend the life of your brush as well as giving you cleaner, healthier looking hair.

  1. To start, remove any hair that is left on the brush using your fingers or a comb. If the hair is really difficult to remove you can use scissors to cut the hair down the middle. You want to get as much out as you can before you continue.
  2. Wet your brushes or combs under warm running water.  Apply a small amount of shampoo to the brush bristles. The shampoo will help break up leftover hair grease and clean your tools.
  3. You can use a toothbrush or a comb to gently scrub the bristles with the shampoo. Scrub in one direction only for a better clean. Rinse brushes in warm water.
  4. Dry your brushes on a towel then lay them flat with the bristles facing down to get rid of any excess moisture that could be trapped in the brush bed. Leave them to dry overnight or speed up the dry time by using a hair dryer.

Now that you have a clean brush you want to keep it that way. For best results, you should choose a brush with tough synthetic nylon bristles and a plastic handle. These are the easiest and safest to clean as opposed to wooden handles that swell when exposed to moisture and eventually split apart. Aim to give your brushes a rinse at least once a week and those 100 strokes a night will make your hair feel even better than before.

Beauty Lessons: How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Spring cleaning may have passed, but it’s never too late in the season to give your makeup brushes a good scrub. We’re going to show you a simple and inexpensive way that you can wash and disinfect all of your favorite makeup brush tools, and in fact you should be doing it regularly. This method will get rid of all the oil and bacteria that has collected in your brushes and not only disinfects them, but leaves them feeling brand new. And the best part is that you can find all the supplies you need in your kitchen, all ready to go.

Materials needed:

Antibacterial Dishwashing Soap to remove pigments, oils and dirt

Extra Virgin Olive Oil to recondition and keep the hairs from drying out

A large plate

Dirty makeup brushes

  1. Pour small amounts of the soap and oil onto a plate.
  2. Stir your brushes in a circular motion to remove leftover pigments and kill bacteria.
  3. Wipe the brushes back and forth on the palm of your hand.
  4. Rinse brushes with warm water for best results, then dry with a paper towel.
  5. Dry brushes with hairs facing down to avoid water seeping into handle. If water gets into the handle, it loosens the glue and the hairs will start to fall out. You can use a brush guard to hang the brushes upside down and keep its shape intact. Let brushes dry overnight.

Use this method at least once a week to keep your brushes, and more importantly your face, squeaky clean and ready for a perfect makeup application.
