So many shows…so little time to sleep!

Jill Stuart
Jill Stuart:
Overly girly with an edge, the stand-out of the collection were the filmy, voluminous gorilla sleeves. I love that somehow Jill Stuart has the magic power to make an abundance of ruffles look rocker and edgy.
Tony Cohen:
The former Pittsburgh Pirate showed largely in a dark color scheme with his signature of piecey draping and folding strongly at work.

Terexov
Terexov:
Fell absolutely in love with the silk chiffon gowns adorned with gold sequins; it gave the appearance of teeny tiny mirrors all over the dress!
Generra:
This brand has really got it going on; they know exactly what the girls want, and will wear–casual layering, chunky knits, and tunic-length tops.
William Rast:
William Rast took us on a back-packing road trip through the heart of casual American fashion with destroyed jeans, leather biker jackets, hardware, and patchwork denim that will surely be a commercial success.

I’m already a fan of the mega Japanese retailer Uniqlo, frequently visiting the store in Soho and picking up items for my Mom, boyfriend, Dad, and of course myself. I am thrilled to report the following Designers Invitation Project lineup (as written about in WWD):
Launching in March:
Steven Alan for women
Opening Ceremony for men
Launching in May:
Shipley & Halmos for women
Gilded Age for men
Prices will range from $19-$79 — a steal for a tailored Steven Alan shirt — expect to see me there opening day!

Five more days of fashion week fabulousness to go! Below is a wrap up of Day 3 (Sunday) shows and presentations:
Herve Leger by Max Azria:
Bondage is taken to the next level with futuristic puffs, sharp shoulder edges, leather paillettes and metallic detailing — loved it!
Lela Rose:
Sticking to her uptown girl theme, Lela Rose showed a collection of put-together looks that remained interesting yet classic at the same tim.
Thuy:
Loved the skirts with “hip accents”, exposed zippers, watercolor prints, and bright yellow dresses.
Karen Sabag:
Her best collection to date, Sabag meticulously worked applique into evening gowns that managed to come across as refined and incredibly beautiful.
Akiko Ogawa:
According to Akiko, gradients are still in, especially in darker color palettes like deep, stormy blue and navy.
Susan Cianciolo:
We went backstage to observe the hair and makeup of eco-friendly designer Susan Cianciolo, held at the Philip Pelusi Tela Salon.
e.y. Wada:
I love the idea of a prim & proper lady with a sense of humor; e.y. Wada’s girls know how to confiedently pull that off with quirky detailing like oversized star cut-out appliques.

United Bamboo
The fashion week fatigue is already beginning to set in, and we must trudge on, fueled by the free McCafe coffee inside of the tents!
A recap of Saturday’s shows:
Karen Walker:
Karen departed from her more casual, sporty roots for a sophisticated lady with a sense of humor; working trump l’oeil details to perfection.

Karen Walker
Richard Chai (Mens):
Most definitely a strong foray into menswear, with well-cut peacoats, duffle coats, and trench hybrids stealing the spotlight.
Verrier:
A girlish fantasy prevailed from Verrier in these dark economic times, with wonderful fashion escapism found in her larger-than-life ruffles, charmeuse, sparkling applique’, and short fur-sleeved dresses.
Monarchy:
Outwear reigned supreme at Monarchy, with everything from military-inspired to “puffy” coats walking the runway, complete with a distinctive button tab detailing on the back.
United Bamboo:

Vena Cava
Great coats, girly jumpers, and a plethora of vintagey prints were the standouts for United Bamboo this season (not to mention a star-studded audience).
Vena Cava:
Motorcycle jackets and exposed skin aren’t going anywhere according to this designing duo, whose presentation played to both the hard and the soft sides of femininity.
