The highlight of my fall 2011 fashion week was being able to interview Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia backstage before their presentation (video to come soon!) and then speak with Sachin again in the arena of the clothes during the event. There’s something to be said about a well-edited collection, that goes straight to the core of the mission at hand, with a pronounced concept that sees its way through. For Sachin + Babi fall 2011, it was that of motorcycles, with an edgy nature balanced out by a softness in the draping of the clothes and well-suited cuts. The jewelry, which was equally as amazing, was also created by the husband and wife design duo, who were so calm and collected, not to mention completely down to earth, when I met them for the first time an hour before the show. With a background in textiles and home design, good style transcends all genres, as Sachin + Babi proved this season.
