The good news about what you can expect for fall 2015 when it comes to hair, nails, and makeup is that most looks revolve around things you’ve already seen before, just a bit tweaked, enhanced, and updated, that’s all! Follow along as I walk you through the trends, with some standout looks that epitomize them, which also happen to be my favorites, created by the artists behind renowned brands such as essie, Zoya, NARS, Maybelline, Davines, TRESemmé, and more. There are a total of 12 trends across the beauty categories that I just had to include in this feature; which is your favorite?
Hair:
Various takes on the French Twist
[Orlando Pita’s mastery of the tuck and fold for TRESemmé at Hervé Leger]
[Joseph DiMaggio for Davines wanted to create a cool coif, done, but not too done, so this style didn’t have a distinct part, with everything swept over to one side, rolled it up on top, and bringing it down into an effortless French twist. To get that much-needed volume, he used Davines More Inside This is a Volume Boosting Mousse to the hairline and root only while sectioning the hair.]
Low, Flat-Ironed Ponytails

Ponytails with Clips & Barrettes
Folded Ponytails
Slightly Textured Natural Hair
[At Banana Republic‘s first New York Fashion Week foray, Jeanie Syfu for TRESemmé created two looks, comprised of loose natural waves (one loose, the other pulled back), both with the help of Perfectly (un)Done Waved Creation Sea Foam and Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray while drying the hair for a boost of texture, then shaking out the hair and finishing with a light touch of Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray.]

Nails:
Nudes
[At Hervé Leger, Zoya went for a “mannequin effect” by using Avery, Naked Manicure Blush Perfector™, and the Naked Manicure Satin Seal Top Coat™]
[Iwona Opiola, nail technician for Red Door Spa took the 16th and 17th century inspiration at Vivienne Tam and created a very natural, slightly rounded nail by using essie’s All Eyes on Nudes from its Cashmere Matte Collection]
Negative Space Artwork
[Michelle Saunders for essie created an edgy chevron nail at Rebecca Minkoff with the width of the polish brush, applying first base base coat, one coast of mademoiselle, one coat of berry naughty, and one of midnight cami]
Monochromatic
[At Mara Hoffman, Alicia Torello for Zoya created a gorgeous nail inspired by the sunsets in Star Wars]
Sophisticated Metallic
[Gina Edwards for Morgan Taylor at Monique Lhuillier created three distinct looks for the runway; a neutral nail by using both In the Nude and Latte Please, then a metallic teal, Bright Eyes, and finally a deep red in Take The Lead mixed with the eggplant-tinged shade of If Looks Could Thrill]
[Created by Zoya at Rolando Santana; Image via Zoya]
[Zoya for Zang Toi, Image via Zoya]
[Julie Kandalec for essie at Naeem Khan created a distressed gold nail by using two coats of shifting power, with a layer of jiggle hi, jiggle low on top, very thinly applied for a sheer effect.]
Makeup:
Redefined Smokey Eye
[At Charlotte Ronson, makeup artist James Vincent for Mehron Makeup took Charlotte herself as inspiration, rethinking the smokey eye by smudging it out and mixing brown and grey instead of traditional black.]
[Pat McGrath created a soft, smudged out smokey eye at Diane von Furstenberg by mixing black and brown liner pencils and further smoothing and blending out with a dose of brown shadow extended onto the lids]Bare Faced + Bold Lip
[Sarah Lucero for Stila Cosmetics at Banana Republic combined Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso and Carina. Image via Stila]
[Francelle Daly for NARS Cosmetics used no liner on this vibrant runway lip, instead fully filling the puckers in with the brand’s new semi-matte lip color, VIP Red. Image via Style.com]
Mega Lashes
[At Rachel Zoe, Charlotte Tilbury for MAC Cosmetics said that it was as of a nod to the ’60s, with a contemporary twist on it and a modern spin (think Twiggy), created a soft creamy white shade applied all over the lid up to the brows. The nude beige pencil was applied along the waterline, and followed up with curling the eyelashes, a feline flick along the lash line, and used flash eyelashes with lots of black eyelashes. The trick to getting lots of mascara on the lashes is to hold the brush vertically instead of horizontally and coat each lash that way for extra length, Tilbury advises.]
