Sorel x Concepts Exclusive Boots For Fall/Winter 2012

by FashionPulseDanielle

[All images via Concepts]

Love the practicality of Sorel boots, but looking for a way to spice them up even further? Concepts has done just that with a variety of classic Sorel styles for both men and women with some updated fabrications and exclusives.

Concepts has put a new spin on Sorel’s Conquest Carly Boots for women by adding new patterns and textures. Added sophistication is found through a quilted patent leather on the boot’s shaft with black suede details and gold accents. The rubber shell, bungee closure, and stacked heel still allow them to be functional winter boots, only with a more stylish touch.

The Sorel men’s Sentry and Kitchener Caribou styles are revamped in this collection as well; the new Sentry boots are inspired by author Henry David Thoreau and his time spent at Walden Pond. These boots display a leather and tweed combination complimented by blue and orange detailing. The Kitchener boots feature a contemporary camouflage accompanied by bright reds on the soles giving the boots an extra pop of color.

All of these styles can be purchased exclusively at the Concepts store in Cambridge, Mass. or online at online at www.cncpts.com

Sorel is a major Fashion Pulse Daily favorite for the colder months, but is quickly becoming a go-to brand for the warmer ones as well! The brand has taken its signature elements of extremely high quality and craftsmanship and transported them for spring/summer 2013 into new color, fabrication, and silhouette options. Our beloved Medina Rain Heel is now available in an additional color option, and we also cannot wait to wear the canvas covered wedge (pictured) with pretty much EVERYTHING! Plus, we’re also excited about the launch this Sorel first: an ultra-sturdy, stylish, ballet flat. Which style pictured is your favorite?

The Top Trends of Spring 2013

by Julia DiNardo

This month I wrote a few articles from New York Fashion Week for SOREL’s Blog, with my final piece being the “Top Trends of Spring 2013:”

It’s truly amazing how runway show after runway show, season after season, distinct trends tend to simultaneously surface. It’s as if the designers all convened and decided what was going to be in for the upcoming year! Of course this doesn’t really happen, but it is interesting to observe the evolution of trends as well as the emergence of new looks that feel fresh and new for one’s wardrobe.

For spring 2013 there is quite a bit of rollover from last year’s favorites, as well as the welcome inception of new styles that will be quickly snapped up once they hit stores.  Here are the top five trends that come springtime, you will see everywhere – and hopefully will try yourself!

Neon Accents

It’s hard to completely get away from such a strong trend in 2012, so for the upcoming year, you will be able to enjoy the electricity and vibrancy of neon shades, with an update: as an accent, instead of solid, ubiquitous spread of the shades.

The look is best when used as an adornment or trim, and paired with neutrals or blush shades. Some of the best demonstrations  were found on dresses at Milly, running along the button line at Clover Canyon, and on the eyelids at Betsey Johnson!

The Colors of Spring 2013

by Julia DiNardo

This month I wrote a few articles from New York Fashion Week for SOREL’s Blog, which was so so great to write for one of my all-time favorite brands, and I’m thrilled to share with you the work that I did, found at other online sources. Below you’ll find the “Colors of Spring 2013,” so that you can have a head’s up on what colors to buy, keep, and store!

Finding out what colors will be hot for spring 2013 is just as important as discovering the trends that are expected to be in fashion. For the upcoming season, expect pops of bright color (as opposed to a monochromatic wash of neon that was big last spring), a high contrast of color by pairing black and white together, and going pale and fresh with a cool mint hue.

An easy way to test the waters of colors that may suit you best is to update and refresh your current wardrobe by working in these new on-trend colors in small ways – first via a handbag, a piece of jewelry, or footwear. Plus, it’s never too early to rev your engine for the upcoming season’s colors, especially if you’re lucky enough to live in a temperate climate and can get away with wearing short sleeve dresses and shorts year-round!

Orangey Red
A mix between a suped-up vermillion and red ochre, bright, orangey-red tones have been popping up all over New York Fashion Week on everything from footwear and bags to evening gowns and lips. Click here to go to the SOREL Blog to read the rest of the article and discover the other three hot shades for spring 2013!

The Feet of Fashion Week

by Julia DiNardo

This month I wrote a few articles from New York Fashion Week for SOREL’s Blog, which was a blast, and my absolute favorite piece was this one, “The Feet of Fashion Week,” in which I photographed, observed, and reported on the trends seen both on the feet of show attendees and what we can look forward to for spring 2013!

At New York Fashion Week, you can expect to see the most stylish looks, both on the runway and off, with footwear selections bringing the look together and driving the overall aesthetic home. For spring collections the possibilities are endless, thanks to the warmer weather.  Silhouettes were able to run the gamut from sandals to peep toe stilettos, booties, hi-top sneakers, motorcycle boots, and more.

Several major trends kept resurfacing on the runway and on the feet of stylish show attendees, designers, hair, makeup, and nail artists working backstage.  Here are our top five favorites that we spotted throughout the week.

Ultra-Pointy Toe Shoes
We’ve enjoyed a soft, rounded toe for many seasons, but the return of a sharper, aerodynamic silhouette in footwear is now upon us. With inspiration that harks back to the 1990s, it only makes sense that the shape of footwear from that decade also makes an appearance.

Pointed shapes look ultra sleek in black, which we saw in stilettos, kitten heels, and flats, but added some color and texture via suede or a woven material giving the trend a fresh and modern update. Click here to read the rest of my fab footwear article at the SOREL Blog!
