Celebrate the Classics with Pendleton for Eddie Bauer: Holiday 2011

by fashion pulse contributor

[First catalogue appearance of Pendleton Shirts, 1948]

Since the 1920’s, Eddie Bauer and Pendleton have worked together to create classic men’s shirts, perfect for the rugged outdoorsman. Today, the collaboration has broadened to include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories ,and bedding ranging in price from $69.95 to $299 (see below).

All available at EddieBauer.com, each piece has been inspired by archival items worn by Eddie and his wife, Stine. The women’s handbags are just utterly fabulous, a perfect way to add color, pattern, and texture to any ensemble. The men’s jackets and work shirts are equally as cool; exactly how we all want the men in our lives to dress on the weekends. The only thing left to want is that cozy blanket to snuggle with him!

Merry Shopping!

Fall’s Patterns and Prints: Pretty, Provocative, and Perfect

by fashion pulse contributor

Patterns and prints can feel so timeless, while also feeling fresh at the same time. Each season new interpretations of the hottest prints are showcased on the runway. Following are the most on-trend, favorite prints for Fall 2011 that we can’t wait to wear!

1. Plaid – The classic school uniform print has gone from good girl to edgy. Plaid can be oh-so chic on and off the runway. Seen on scarves, bags, pants, ponchos and more, this pattern is always appropriate for fall weather.

2. Polka Dot – A “spot-on” trend right now, polka dots are DEFINITELY making a fashion-forward statement. Marc Jacobs set the tone with his head to toe dotted looks, however for a more realistic approach try micro dot polka dot tights, a sheer polka dot blouse, or even a blazer. This retro-inspired look has proven to be modern one whether done in bright colors or more neutral tones. Continue reading…

Mad for Plaid

by fashionpulse

Via our friends at thefind.com:

This fall brings the English countryside as inspiration for cool weather dressing. Escape the hustle and bustle of urban living with some natty traditional plaids with a modern twist. Think hounds tooth checks, buffalo plaids, and large complex Scotch plaids. Made of natural fibers such as wool and cotton the updated plaid looks best when paired with sleek body hugging denim and fierce heels. Look for plaid jackets, dresses, and even capes for covering up. Elizabeth and James features some of the best plaid blouses adorned with their signature casual yet sophisticated style. Take your new look with you to the country for a tranquil retreat or don the plaid with boyfriend jeans for a casual look in town.

As seen on the Fall ‘09 runways, the Marc By Marc Jacobs “Abbey” Plaid Dress (upper left, $458.00 at Bloomingdales.com) is a twist on the traditional. The pure wool mini dress tunic has a drop waist, cowl neck, two front pockets and banded sleeves. The Fei Polaire Vest (top middle, $118.00 at Anthropologie.com) is a pretty and dramatic corset-style top with a flared peplum. This vest would pair nicely with a slim pencil skirt and platform pumps. From Smythe, a wool-blend jacket (top right, $525 at Net-a-Porter) Pair Smythe’s blue tweed plaid jacket over a tank and skinny jeans for a dose of English countryside eccentricity. From Ann Taylor Loft, a sweeping and dramatic Brushed Plaid Cape (Bottom right, $148 at Ann Taylor Loft). This classic double-breasted cape is lined, has a banded collar with button closure. From Elizabeth and James (Bottom left, $245 at Net-a-Porter) a gray and cream cotton-blend plaid shirt with a distressed finish, button front and two patch pockets. Pair this wardrobe staple with your favorite pair of jeans and fiercest boots for a cool downtown look.

Perry Ellis Fall 2009 Presentation

by fashionpulse

The best way to describe Perry Ellis’ Fall 2009 menswear presentation in the fewest amount of words? Clothes for the dream boyfriend. The Perry Ellis team designs for a guy with style and confidence, a guy who doesn’t back down from a pair of plaid pants or an argyle sweater (though not together of course) and more than that, totally rocks the look. Layering was key to the presentation; suit jackets were worn over vests while blazers were worn over round or v-neck sweaters, with both looks featuring crisp collared shirts as the base layer. Jeans and pants were perfectly tailored, patterned sweaters came in mature colors such as Venetian red, burnt sienna, tan, navy, black, and charcoal (which kept them from ever looking grandpa-ish), and loose-knit lounge sweaters looked comfortable but classy.

Perry Ellis is definitely taking the current economy into account—a new, black, polyurethane faux-leather jacket was a key part of the presentation. What amazed me about this jacket, besides the fact that it’s a mere $80 (a steal when compared to its real, $400 counterpart), is that it not only looks unbelievably real, it also feels as soft and pliable as real leather. I would love to throw this jacket on over evening wear on unpredictably chilly nights, which means I’ve got to find a Perry Ellis dream guy from which too steal it ASAP…
