New York Fashion Week is the time when you bring out the big fashion guns, dressing your best, but also if you are prudent, balancing the right amount of comfort with pizazz. I really wanted to take part in the lace trend, as I just find the execution of lace dresses these days absolutely stunning. Looking to some of my favorite designers for the look, I settled on a piece from Nanette Lepore, which has the right amount covered up in the right places, as lace can tend to be see-through, and I wanted the focus to be on the collections, not how visible my underwear may be!
The right foundation garments are important, and nude-colored spandex shorts have replaced the slip, which add for extra movement and lower the visibility of seeing what is underneath. You’re bound to see another lace garment or two on Fashion Pulse Daily soon, but until then, stay tuned for more NYFW looks.

80’s inspired neons are having a flashy flashback moment! From Nanette Lepore‘s jackets and handbags, to Rag and Bone’s electric turquoise and orange, the Spring 2012 runways popped in anything-but-boring neons.
You can be a total knockout in these hues with a few simple tips and learn how to compliment your skin tone. This is an easy trend to pull off if you simply know your neons, and we are here to help!
For those with fairer skin, hot pink is is calling your name. Avoid green and yellow as these tend to wash you out. If you have an olive complexion, shine on in vivid tangerines and corals. Those with darker skin will stand out in lime greens and bold yellows. Continue reading…

For spring, Lepore was all about brights with brights, pairing a citron crop top with a tangerine skirt and a lilac colored net over a tangerine dress. A deep-sea blue complemented well with the bright colors, as a windbreaker was paired with a pink and blue floral swimsuit. It was hard to take our eyes off the runway, as the colors popped with a life of their own and the silhouettes were charming as much as they were downright fun. Tailored tops were coupled with full skirts and bright nets were placed over fitted dresses to add depth and flow as models strutted. Now, take to the streets as if it were your personal runway and put on some color ala Nanette Lepore!

Inspired by the urban wanderer with a sophisticated grunge feel, designersLaurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper explored just that during their Rochambeau Spring 2012 presentation. A short fashion film, titled “Paralymbic,” by Hugh Lippe was shown during the presentation, which complemented the edgy dark colors and leather pieces in the menswear collection. Shirtless models wore open vests with loose fitting pants in various lengths. The cool, laid back Rochambeau man mixes cool relaxation, and sexy at the same time.

Nanette Lepore’s Fall 2011 Collection was primarily composed of light, sheer, luxurious materials elegantly draped around the female body. The show started off with an ivory ankle-length dress tastefully embellished with a shimmery gold pattern, paired with an off-white porous cardigan. The show progressed to present multiple gauzy long dresses, transcending into knitted everyday wear, and back to austere silk and gauzy dresses draped and tailored to properly show off the female form with touches of gold and filmy black top layers. A few black leather pieces with horizontal cut-outs and heavy wool winter coats also made an appearance in the primarily delicate gauzy and light knit collection. Overall, the outing was beautifully chic and representative of Lepore’s famous talent for timelessness.
