We’ve all experienced it — you spend a good half an hour meticulously applying foundation, blush, shadows, mascara and lipstick only to devastatingly discover how quickly your  look has vanished upon arrival at your destination. Tragic, perhaps, especially after spending absurd amounts of money on products that promise extended-wearability. [Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush]

At last night’s product launch, Maybelline unveiled a “Dream” team trio of long-lasting coverage from a foundation, concealer and a blush. The Dream Nude Airfoam foundation brings air-infused technology to your face. The Dream Lumi Touche highlighter and concealer is a two-in-one gel based imperfection hider. Finally, the Dream Bouncy Blush is as fun as it sounds, while it melts right into your skin. Plus, all application can be done by hand – no brushes needed! Say goodbye to touch-ups; you won’t be missed!

[24 Hour Color Tattoo Cream Shadows]

EYES:

For mascara, Maybelline shifted focus from volume to length with their new Illegal Lengths mascara. At just $8.95, you’re getting firm, long lashes with innovative 4 mm fibers. The brush, fibers, and formula may prove to make even extensions jealous! Is mascara not enough? Don’t fret, they’ve launched 24 Hour Color Tattoo Cream Shadows to compliment your newly elongated lashes. Thanks to intense pigments and true color payoff, these shadows will not crease or migrate, as cream shadows tend often do. With 10 rad shades from neutral to statement hue varieties, there’s definitely something for work and/or play. Feel free to layer, blend, and line (as I will with the Painted Purple!) for a quick all-eyes-on-you look.

Bite You Later: True Blood Collaborates with Tarte for a New Make-up Line

Vampires, telepaths, and shapeshifters, oh my! While in Washington D.C. this weekend, my brother’s girlfriend introduced me to HBO’s television drama series, True Blood. I never got into the fad of vampires, but after a quick glimpse into a new dramatic addiction, I decided I needed to put the first season on my to-watch list.

A bigger addiction for me is makeup and True Blood is collaborating with Tarte for a new limited edition cosmetic collection dedicated to the success of the show. Tarte™ for True Blood™ has created a color palette and other beauty products developed by Emmy award-winning makeup artist and True Blood makeup department head, Brigette Myre-Ellis. The product line will be available in July, in order to coincide with the show’s fourth season, and will be carried at the HBO shop in New York City, HBO’s online store, and Sephora.

The collection includes three products:

1. tarte™ for True Blood™ limited-edition collector’s palette ($52) includes 17 matte and shimmer eyeshadows, aqua-gel eyeliner, mascara, and a natural eye primer.

Maybelline’s Kicking it up a Notch

I recently attended a special preview for Maybelline’s new Winter 2010 products, and left quite impressed with a new appreciation for the makeup line. According to Maybelline, this season they were focused on creating an innovative product featuring technologies on par with professional brands, but at an incredibly affordable price point.

My favorite line was the Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadows, which are shimmery, glittery eye shadow quad palettes, and are unique in the sense that they can be used wet or dry for more intense looks ranging in appearance. In fact, the makeup expert showed me how she was able to create eleven different shades from a four color palette, just by mixing colors and using water – it’s simple enough that anyone can do it! Continuing in the new Eye Studio collection, Maybelline also came out with the baked duo palettes, entitled Color Pearls Marbelized Eyeshadows; great for honing in on that particular color that you are absolutely obsessed with!

Another exciting product was the Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. The liner is a creamy gel texture that is extremely easy to apply with the brush – included with purchase! A small amount of the gel liner is sufficient for either a fine or thick line and will last throughout the day. The eyeliner will be available in black, brown, and – for a limited time – royal blue. The liner also blends well with their eye shadows and can help create additional shades.

They’re also expanding their already extensive mascara line; these are great for anyone who wants professional looking lashes but lacks the skill and experience of a makeup artist. The new XXL Pro by Eye Studio will give you the option of extra volume, color, length, or 24-hour coverage. A second new mascara, Lash Stiletto Voluptuous, is truly unique in that the brush is curvy so that, when applied, it creates the effect of longer, fuller, better colored lashes.

Don’t worry – all the focus wasn’t on the eyes! They’re also coming out with new lip glosses, each specially flavored (some of them tasted very good!), called Shine Sensational Lip Gloss. The glosses range in color and taste and come in sheer and shimmery and creamy with better coverage. Some of the flavors included chocolate, caramel, peppermint, strawberry, and orange.

They also had something for the skin; the Instant Age Rewind Eraser is a treatment makeup that is made with goji berry and has SPF 18. The product comes with an applicator so you don’t have to use your fingers which helps the product go on smoothly. The Eraser will be available in 12 different shades and will sell for $12.99. They also launched a new Primer Skin Transformer, which is used prior to foundation application, that is priced at $9.99.

These products won’t be out for a few more weeks, but you may be able to find them in stores soon after Christmas!
