Quick weekend getaways are part of the summertime fun, and I have a checklist and routine of the items that I generally include, sometimes keeping a pre-packed bag ready to roll for a last-minute trip! Here’s a break down of some reliable summertime go-tos when making a quick escape!
(From left to right): A sturdy bag that can accommodate as much or as little weight as you desire is a must (Liz Claiborne bag); a dress that can work in day and evening and won’t wrinkle is a must (dress by Persifor); a straw hat for the beach or mid-day strolls is important to protect the face and scalp from the sun (hat by Hat Attack); a chic, sleek one-piece bathing suit is easy to wear and pack (Norma Kamali one piece); and shorts with pockets that can be beachwear, workout wear, or sleepwear are extremely helpful (shorts by Puma).
(From left to right): If you leave the house without shades, you might as well not leave the house at all! Always a summer essential (sunglasses by Gucci); these Sorel Lake Shoes are not only ultra-versatile on and off of the beach, but so comfy you’ll never want to unzip them!
A wristlet is the perfect place to stash it all yet still travel light; I love the dip dye summer hues of this particular one (clutch by LOFT); layer on the bangles; wrapped bracelets keep it casual (from LOFT); while a dash of glitz via stud jewels in your ears look great with beach toussled tresses (earrings by Sorrelli); a bit of sheer color plus balm keeps your makeup bag light (Clinique Chubby Stick in Mega Melon).
Sunscreen is a major must, and a purse-size bottle is helpful! (Kiehl’s); anti-bacterial hand sanitizers in a wiper, spray or cream formula always comes in handy (Burt’s Bees); a travel-size face wash is really all you need for a weekend away (Cetaphil).
A few toiletries that I can’t live without (left to right): in case you’re camping or would rather not wash your hair, bring a powder or dry shampoo to help with texture, volume and oil (Redken Powder Grip 03), of course pack a toothbrush and tooth paste, but these little Wisps are good in a pinch as is a pouch of Emergen-C, if you start to feel under the weather; aloe vera is great when you get a little too much sun exposure (Jason Naturals 95% Aloe Vera Gel); facial moisturizer with SPF combines two steps into one (Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 50).
Forgot to shave? No problem; just pack a disposable razor to handle the job (Schick Quattro for Women Disposable Razors Sensitive); pack tweezers; you never know when they may come in handy (Tweezerman); last, your eyeglasses or sunglasses may get smudgy lenses from sunscreen, sweat etc; disposable wipes quickly remove the smears (LA Fresh Lens Cleansing Wipes).
