Bare legs in the winter? We think not! Thankfully, our legs can brave the cold in style! We’re not talking about the bland pantyhose of the past, but the fashion-forward tights, socks, and leggings that exude everything from a coyish coquette to grungy charm. Let’s give them all a try!
Tights: Some of us may whine, deeming tights incredibly uncomfortable, yet, at FPD, we embrace hosiery for its endless variety. Whether opaque, sheer, fishnet, polka dot, striped, lace or multi-colored, there is a pair to release any one’s inner diva, sultry sexpot, or quirky schoolgirl, perhaps? As stockings become cooler, our legs stay warmer, whatever our style!
Wear with: All varieties of Boots, Open and Closed Toe Pumps/Wedges, Flats
Leggings: You know those tight, stretchy pull-on pants that have become the go-to pant in every pre-teen, tween and college girl’s wardrobe? Well, leggings are not just for the juvenile! We encourage all to wear these lycra extremes, just please not with a cropped top, however! Leggings, from basic black to the more unique patterned options, are the perfect way to keep legs warm under a sweater dress or skirt while maintaining comfort and move-ability. The best part? They don’t tear as easily as stockings.
Wear with: Boots, Pumps, Wedges, Flats, Moccasins, Sneakers, Slipper Shoes
Socks: We’re giving the 80’s a run for their money with our new-found love for socks. Slouch socks give any outfit a one-of-a-kind appeal. Create your own leg warmers by doubling socks or wearing multiple at a time. Here’s where your true creative genius can shine! Fold them over, wear them over the knee, or try them thigh high.
Tip: Pair chunky socks over leggings or tights for that NYC grunge, Mary Kate Olsen “I’m-not-trying-too-hard to look chic” look.
Wear with: Boots of all heights, Open or Closed Toe Pumps/Wedges, Sneakers (High-tops)
