Leather looks best, but also explore other materials such as jelly, suede, and espadrille varieties. A platform, clog shape feels both retro and modern at the same time, while wedges always offer some extra comfort, and flats are, well, fabulous. The braiding can be loose and simple with thick strips of material, or micro and ornate with weaving so delicate it looks (and may possibly even be) hand wrought.
