Edith & Ella
Tweed and contradictions lifted the pure and sophisticated show through at Edith & Ella for fall 2012. The designers have an ability to bring a lightness and joy to their clothes., that included primary colors (red, green, blue) to give the collection a fresh look. With the old-school skirts and sparkling red shirts, the combination was new and interesting, yet extremely wearable.

Rützou
Rützou’s show was dominated by gauzy fabrics with a mix of pastels and earth colors. The long necklaces with fringed pendants hung carelessly around the neck of most of the models, along with other accessories such as oversized flowers inspired by Japanese art, alongside significant zippers visible in the linings of the clothes.

Stine Goya
Burnt earth tones, brown nude, physical dots and velvet. With these motifs, Stine Goya once again did an amazing job balancing the masculine/feminine mystique. Feminine details were represented via 3/4 sleeve lengths with some pants more closely fitted through the thighs.

I recently checked out C. Wonder in SoHo, as it had been garnering quite a bit of buzz lately, to see if under my scrutiny, it was the beginning of a great lifestyle brand at affordable prices. The store certainly can boast a large presence, with floor to ceiling shelving and an array of goods that range from women and men’s apparel to home decor, tableware, electronics, jewelry, and a monogramming section.

The founder, Chris Burch, is the ex-husband of designer Tory Burch, and in all honesty, you could feel a very Tory-esque vibe stamped in the layout, color scheme, and even visible in some of the products (they have ballet flats that really don’t look much different than the Reva flat). All in all, I would stop back to check out the wares at C.Wonder (you can also shop online), as I left empty handed on this day, but all in all, feel it was a strong, confident maiden voyage for a brand that has arose at a time when many companies are scaling back. Burch plans to roll out 20 more stores in 2012, so stay tuned for a C. Wonder near you. In the meanwhile, if you are in the area, check out the store — 72 Spring Street at Crosby, New York City, New York.

I got to see the pieces live, in motion, and up close during an intimate runway show displaying the new men’s and women’s looks of Rock & Republic exclusively at Kohl’s! Besides being slightly mesmerized by the start studded front row, I was able to analyze and scrutinize the collection, and I’ll give you the verdict right now – on the runway, and in hand, the denim looks great! It is certainly a premium product at a value. Intrigued? You can shop Rock & Republic right now at Kohl’s; a quick survey of the women’s denim section saw prices marked down from $55-$68-not too shabby!

Cartier, the iconic house of jewelry, celebrated its 165th anniversary at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a location that perfectly parallels the brand’s unassailable passion for exploring the world and inhabiting international heritage in every design. We were invited to experience Cartier in both art and musical form via a short film directed by Bruno Aveillan, a journey through space a time, which took two years to complete.
The film’s heroine, Cartier’s signature Panthère (the panther), has been the emblem of the Cartier jewelry making expertise since the 1930s. As the panther traverses the world through film, she symbolizes both “strength” and “freedom”while instinctively engaging in the world around her. We move through time and space in harmony, faithfully guided by this stoic protagonist. The realism of the short story juxtaposes it’s dream-like feel, as landscapes shift Grand Palais, to St. Petersburg, to India, while interweaving some of Cartier’s most recognizable works such as the trinity rings and love bracelet.
We invite you to join Cartier today (March 2nd), as they pursue their own journey in cinema. The three and a half minute film will be televised on Sunday, but view it now Facebook and YouTube. It’s an incredible visual display of the brand’s story, and we would love for you to experience Cartier through this amazing representation. The Cartier brothers’ perpetual appetite for jewels have given rise to the renowned House of Cartier, a historical and cultural institution with a grand touch of wonder, mystery, luxury, and revelry.
