The Show: Catherine Malandrino BLACK LABEL Spring / Summer 2013
The Theme: An impeccable infusion of the magical, feminine romance of Paris and the modern, on-the-go boldness of New York.
The Color Palette: Frosted blues, mint greens, powder pinks and pure white
Best / Collection’s Signature Standout Look: French twist faux-hawks and leather caps, classic pumps and feminine silhouettes with a uniquely modern flare were abundant in Catherine Malandrino’s Spring / Summer 2013 presentation. Body-hugging pieces incorporated French cotton guipure, power mesh, stretch cotton jacquard, suede and leather in utterly beautiful whites and pastels. Geometric cut-outs and strapless bra tops paired with high waisted trousers and skirts successfully created a look that was sexy, sporty, and refined.

The Show: Lela Rose Spring 2013
The Theme: While Lela Rose stayed true to her signature whimsical aesthetic, this season’s collection was updated with a certain ethereal quality. The designer was inspired by the work of poetic artist Jim Hodges, and it could not have been more apparent. She translated Hodge’s floral installations and chain webs with distinctive detail – textured, organza gowns emblazoned with silver blossoms met bodice dresses covered in mirrored lace. Metal necklines completed garments the way cobwebs cross a path that leads to a garden. With a peppy, feel-good soundtrack, we were transcended into a mystical world where nature’s landscapes reigned supreme.
The Color Palette: Sherbet hues of coral and pink were cooled with teal, sky blue, and lavender. Jewel tones in yellow and jade saluted Lela Rose’s AW12 collection.
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Tailored trousers were printed with cobalt blue flowers or embroidered with symmetrical guipure in a way that was structured, yet delicate. And while modestly draped dresses made for elegant silhouettes, the webbed chains brought about a certain edge. But perhaps the most unexpected looks were those that appeared first – camouflage pieces contrasted pale, tweed suits with linear stitching, and woven plaid was highlighted with a pop of neon – proving that nature can be quite pretty, yet undeniably powerful.

Still feeling that I can pull of glamorous (opposed to exhausted) as my look for fashion week, I opted for this gorgeous Dana-Maxx dress, some Sorel booties (rain was in the forecast all day) to help me stay chic, despite the weather! I started off the day at the Ted Gibson meet and greet at the Style Coalition lounge in the Empire Hotel, and then was off and running to a day filled with a lot of back and forth between venues, backstage access, and shows.

I love the red accents of the Sorel Medina Heels! I can’t even tell you how many compliments I got as well, with most people not evening realizing that they doubled as rain boots.
My requisite accessories for the week – the Baume and Mercier watch and Sorrelli jewelry! Although my manicure IS looking a little beat up, so…

I stopped by the Birchbox Sample Stop, picked up a few beauty items, and got a new manicure, courtesy of Color Club, in this bright blue shade, dubbed Insta’ This!
