Today was a looong one, all for the sake of fashion and beauty! I finished off the day at Betsey Johnson’s spring 2013 fashion show/70th Bday Bash/Retrospective (invite pictured above), and since it was a 12 hour day for me out and about, I decided to be stylishly comfortable!
[taken while waiting to go backstage at Narciso Rodriguez]
I literally walked 40 blocks from Lincoln Center to the Narciso Rodriguez show, made possible by my Sorel Derby shoes; there was NO WAY I would have been able to do it in any other footwear! It was such a lovely, sunny day that I had to take advantage of the sunshine. And to blow off some steam; I left my Sunglass Hut Prada Cat Eye Shades in the Osklen fashion show. So bummed!! But maybe it happened for a reason; within 24 hours I got a new pair of shades at the Betsey Johnson show, won the new Windows Phone from Style Coalition Lounge, AND won a My First Love case from Caboodles! Score!

The Show: Sunhee Spring 2013
The Theme: The water infusion print that fronted the Sunhee SS13 invitation was the very essence of the entire collection. It inspired flowing silhouettes, made its way onto a draped top and silk cocktail dress, and called for a cascading waterfall that doubled as a backdrop for the presentation. The serene atmosphere invited us to channel our energies directly into Sunhee’s designs.
The Color Palette: While we saw shades of charcoal and black with flashes of royal blue for her AW12 show, this season Sunhee is bursting with color. A demure, ecru skirt and trench jacket gave way to bronze, laser-cut details. Blush and amethyst hues made up crystal graphic patterns, and a coral tinted pink complemented fuchsia wool. Later, aqua and chartreuse blended on a button down that was paired with a ruched, turquoise skirt – the look evoking images of the ocean.
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Although a certain gracefulness ran throughout the collection, each piece was given a unique twist. A cotton knit, drop waist dress was completed with embroidered lines that shaped its pleats. Geometric leather cut outs gave edge to the bodice of a chiffon babydoll. And neon pops of citron confirmed that just like water, Sunhee knows no bounds.

The Show: Diesel Black Gold Spring 2013
The Theme: Sophia Kokosalaki opens the show with a skate park setting backdrop as the theme of this season’s collection with a metropolitan skate park, ’90s fashion imagery and the eclectic style sense of creative city dwellers. She merged the youthfulness of the adrenaline-driven sports world with the luxury and sophistication of the contemporary art scene.
The Color Palette: Black and white with subtle hints of color. Prints inspired by street art and parks graffiti.
Best / Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Dressed in butter-soft leather, bonded fabrics and treated denim, the women wore sharply tailored jackets with pants as well as tightly fitted skirts. The edgy pieces were tempered by a feminine sensibility such as transparent mesh laid onto the dresses for revealing peek-a-boo details, as well as some fringe and braided accents.

The Show: Zang Toi
The Theme: Inspired by romance in the French Riviera, the Zang Toi show felt like a haute couture daydream complete with a dew-like misty air and whimsical French music.
The Color Palette: Ice pink, ice yellow, ice lilac, ivory, black
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The standouts in the collection included evocative menswear inspired looks and fanciful fairy princess gowns. The looks epitomized a strong, sexy female who nurtures her soft and demure side. Romanticism was at the crux of the assemblage. Expertly tailored blazers and trousers, pleats, ruffles, oversized sleeves and jewel-encrusted accents were abound in the French fantasy.
A black floor-length tailcoat with intricate hand beaded wildflower lining was paired with a silk tuxedo shirt, white bowtie, exposed garters and black silk high-waisted shorts. An ice lilac hand loomed rayon gown was both adorned with a “French Riviera” crystal necklace and unadorned with a sexy back.
