NYFW Fall 2013: Wildfox Couture
Wildfox Couture’s presentation came alive with models dancing on platforms in silk and sequined dresses, while some had bobs of pink or mint hair, while others waved feather boas around to the tunes of Frank Sinatra, making it feel more like a New York party of yore rather than a fashion show. A brand known for their witty t-shirt slogans,we couldn’t help but notice one model’s shirt with the phrase “How Bad Can A Good Girl Get?” — that question certainly was visibly clear throughout the rest of the looks. Although there was a certain art deco/Great Gatsby-theme in the air, the clothes that would have caused disapproving looks from the more conservative public in the 1920s, will now provoke looks of envy from others who want to get their hands on these fun and flirty pieces.

NYFW Fall 2013: Kimberly Ovitz
*This feature is part of Sorrelli for Fashion Pulse Daily Exclusive New York Fashion Week Runway Coverage
The Show: Kimberly Ovitz Fall 2013
The Theme: Futuristic Grunge
The Color Palette: Black, silver metallic, with colorful “hallucinatory” tie-dye prints
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look:
Look 19: A grunge take on a women’s skirt-suit, the matching blot print jacket and skirt were coupled with a textured black moto vest. Paired with futuristic snake-like pin curls, this look is representative of the Kimberly Ovitz Fall ’13 collection: innovative and otherworldly, a play between light and dark.
Look 4: A chic tie-dye print flowed beautifully with super sleek hair, black leather booties, and slithering accessories. The expertly-draped gown was paired with Kimberly Ovitz with SHAPEWAYS 3-D printed jewelry that snaked up the wrist and ear lobe. The overall look was inspired by microscopic views of scales, exoskeletons, and squid ink.

HSN Spring 2013 Preview Featuring Iris Apfel, Christian Siriano, Vince Camuto, more
After leaving the HSN Fashion preview for the spring 2013 collections, it was obvious that the motif for the upcoming months from designers such as Vince Camuto, Iris Apfel, Christian Siriano, Steve Madden, and June Ambrose was a carefree-meets-stylish ensemble. Many of the designers veered on the side of playful, colorful, and a dash quirky with their designs this upcoming season, and expect to see many of these pieces starting in mid-February.
Click on the slideshow above for our favorite pieces, and below for some of the key trend call-outs that were spotted at the press preview:
Neons and Neutrals- If you’re like me and your outfit revolves around accessories than you’ll LOVE this trend. Wear something as simple as all-white and their is an endless amount of possibilities when it comes to choosing that perfect neon accessory.
Maxi Dresses- The color palettes on all of these dresses are utter perfection and the prints are all unique. Guaranteed, you are bound to see women flaunting several maxi’s this season.
Print Mixing- I know, I know we come from a matchy matchy society, but try to give this daring trend of pattern mixing a go this year. You will be surprised at how well a floral print and polka-dot print will go together or even a tribal pattern and a snakeskin print. The easiest way to achieve this look if you are still hesitant, is through accessories like a scarf, handbag, or accessories.
Color-blocking with a pop of color- We are seeing the ever-popular color-blocking trend get a warm weather update by adding a pop of color to the mix. The usual dark and neutral color-block hues of fall can now be paired with neon and brights to keep with a spring weather feel.
As for the accessories, it seems statement and personality pieces will be key; try Akkad’s beautiful gems or June Ambrose’s neon sandals with statement crystal ornamentation. There is also “The Rara Avis Collection” by Iris Apfel with the utterly charming and quirky Tucan and Lips ballet flats (enough said, right?!) for a bit of personality (see slideshow). How can we not smile at the sight of these!

P.S. Speaking of HSN and collaborations, HSN and TNT have partnered to create an exclusive collection based on the characters of the hit TV show DALLAS, all created by the costume director of the show Rachel Sage Kunin. The collection, “Big Texas Style”, is based off the looks of the main characters of the show such as: Sue Ellen Ewing, Elena Ramos, Ann Ewing, and Pamela Barnes. Even if you only caught a few episodes (or none), I still recommend checking out these exclusive looks because they are really quite exquisite.
