The Show: Alejandro Ingelmo men’s and women’s fall/winter 2013 collections
The Theme: Light and Darkness
The Color Palette: Tinfoil metallic, military green, black, purple
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look:Neon lights in a dark room displayed Alejandro Ingelmo’s men’s and women’s fall and winter shoe line in which bold cut out designs were featured, resembling rib cages and upon closer inspection detailed texture and various tones were visible. The collection’s signature, standout look was a military green Mariposa style high heel with golden tinfoil metallic detail.

The Show: Lela Rose Fall 2013
The Theme: Brothers Grimm Fairy tales
The Color Palette: Red, white, black, grey, burnt orange, citrine, silver, emerald , navy, and fuchsia
The Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The look that best represented the magical, mystical, and dark nature motif was a golden illustrated jacquard full skirt dress. This citrine and black lace v-neck cocktail dress gave off an ethereal glow while the black swirling lace gave it that beautiful, dark twist.

The Show: Custo Barcelona Fall 2013
The Theme: Beauty and Beast
The Color Palette: Earth-tone prints
The Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Custo this season was a mix between fitted garments, representing “beauty,” and large voluminous shapes representing “beast.” Statement jackets found over form-fitting dresses showcased this theme in women’s clothing, with the standout being a silver jacket with pronounced shoulders over a fitted printed mini dress.

The Show: Jen Kao Fall 2013
The Theme: Traditional workwear meets feminine sophistication
The Color Palette: Black, blush, black and white spotted, blue, gold, and grey
The Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The “Blush Silk Piano Wire Dress” was an off-the-shoulder cocktail dress that featured delicate straps and an overall stunning silhouette. The black polka-dot tights, long drop earrings, and dark eye makeup put a decidedly modern twist with a bit of poutiness on classic glamour.

The Show: Katya Leonovich Fall 2013
The Theme: Natural and Edgy
The Color Palette: Black, blue, grey, green, and silver
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: The collection featured a mix of organic: draped mixed fabrics and beading, and then came the edgy: black leather and faux fur. The look that showed off this juxtaposition best was look the “Silver Watercolor Print Gown with Leather Corset Belt,” which provided a movement to the dress while the thick metallic belt played well off of each other as the model made her slick walk down the runway.

The Show: Alexandre Herchocotich Fall 2013
The Theme: Flower Petals
The Color Palette: Red, white, brown, green, black,  burgundy, grey, blush prints
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: Peel back the layers of this collection and you get a simple idea, displayed magnificently: flower petals. Each look progressed in a way a wilting flower might until the entire top of the dress came down off of the bodice and fell around the hips. The standout look of this collection was a black and white striped dress that split down the middle with one side on the torso, and the other side peeled down to the waist. A beautiful and fresh display of something seen in nature everyday.

Street Peek: New York Fashion Week Fall 2013

During New York Fashion Week for FAll 2013, I not only took in the latest shows and went backstage for interviews, but also spoke to fashionable women in and around the tents at Lincoln Center as part of my Street Peek original web series, to find out what they are wearing and how they pair their colors to look colorful, warm, and stylish this season.  Check out Style Coalition.TV for more great videos from myself and my colleagues.

NYFW FALL 2013: Elie Tahari, Perry Ellis by Duckie Brown

The Show: Elie Tahari

The Theme: A metropolis with a Siberian winter backdrop

The Color Palette: Warm shades of “winterberry, midnight dream blue, and Carnally Hill green.”

The Signature, Standout Look:  All of these very wearable garments are appealing to a variety of women who want to look polished while still wearing functional, practical clothing. The an all white modern winter landscape, quite appropriate for the weather we’ve been having, brought to life Tahari’s warm color palette, which showed both a men’s and women’s collection.

 

The Show: Perry Ellis by Duckie Brown

The Theme: Classic wear with a mix of modern-day prints

The Signature, Standout Look: For the fall season at Perry Ellis, expect warm hues such as mustards, greens, and maroons. Also noted were the combination of preppy, conservative elements paired with sportiet garments, such as bomber jackets, leather coats, and parkas, to give it a modern cool yet sophisticated update to the label. However, what really stood out from many of these runway looks was the approachable paisley print in subdued colors, found on jackets and trousers.
