Still got green on the brain, thanks to Earth Day? Zoya is showing everyone their green thumb (or nails) with the 2013 Zoya Nail Polish Exchange, which extends beyond just one day of the year. All you have to do is go towww.zoya.com, pick your favorite shades and apply the code ZOYAEARTH2013 to your order. Then once you’ve received your new polish, ship back your old non-Zoya polish and let Zoya take care of the rest. The best part is that each bottle costs only $4 and Zoya will properly dispose of your old polish according to EPA guidelines. Simple and clean; just the way we like it!
In other exciting nail news, now everyone can grow stronger and longer nails with just a manicure once in a while. Dermelect Cosmeceuticals has teamed up with nail expert and founder of top beauty blog FearNoBeauty.comKarie Frost to create ME’s Summer 2013 Lacquer Collection. The new Fearless Beautycollection contains four eye-popping shades with names that catch your attention as much as the colors themselves: RENEGADE-a vibrant jade, BUZZ-WORTHY– an electric lemon yellow, FEARLESS-a bold cobalt blue, and MOXIE– a bright pink hue. But creamy, high-voltage colors for the summer aren’t all this collection has to offer. As an added bonus, each shade contains vitamins and Dermelect’s signature anti-aging, peptide-infused formula that is designed to strengthen weak, brittle nails and help nails resist chipping and splitting with just two coats of this long lasting, high-shine polish. Sounds like magic in a bottle! Each polish retails for $14 each and will be available summer 2013 at www.dermelect.com and at high-end apothecaries, beauty boutiques, salons and doctors offices.
So, I admit it: spring, you tricked us! April fools came late! I really really was positive and “glass half full” about a steady stream of warmer days ahead, but it looks like the next few days may show some signs of an uptick in warmth. In the meanwhile, it’s thick wool tights. longer jackets, and booties for me! This past Monday kicked the week off with cozy, on-the-go workday chic, and keeping warm was at the heart of the look. Tucked away are my small beanie and leather gloves — I HATE being cold, so I’m always prepared for the worst!
My new Ciera Black Metallic Detail Chunky Heel Boots, courtesy of BOOHOO, have been my new favorite go-to, with a dose of static sparkle that can be admired from the front, and lusted after from the back. The best part? They are $50!! Amazing value– and I can’t even tell you how many compliments I’ve been getting on them, but let’s just saw the numbers are in my favor since I’ve been wearing them almost every day.

As previously mentioned in the sneak peek post,The White Gown in DUMBO, Brooklyn put together this incredible shoot in their gorgeous store, with host Dawn Del Russo, makeup by Lindsey Jones, hair by Laureen Krawse of Styles on B, hair accessories by Thea of Hushed Commotion, and the video by Courtney of Love + Brain Films. I hope you enjoy it, and learn a bit about the makeup application; the highlight for me was getting the demo from Lindsey on how to apply individual lashes!
AND: with less than three months to go until my big day, I need your help!
After a brutally long winter, my fellow Manhattanites, and, for the most part, East Coasters as well are reveling in the sunshine. Finally, puffer jackets can be shed and lightweight layers can make their much-deserved debut in the latest silhouettes, colors, and patterns for spring/summer 2013. What better to help me kick off my favorite fashion season than with a piece from Mara Hoffman, the designer who makes the most gorgeously engineered prints in ethnic-inspired motifs?
Courtesy of The Orchid Boutique, the amazing online and brick-and-mortar destination for swimwear and all things warm-weather related, I stepped out in this incredible confection, the Mara Hoffman Basket Weave Maxi Dress, this weekend. I let the dress do most of talking, balancing it out with some matching hues found in my essie polish in “beach bum blue” and color block wedge sandals.
The trick to wearing a maxi dress on a petite frame is managing the proportions so that it doesn’t appear to be too dramatic of a triangle shape, i.e. tight on top and loosely flowing on the bottom. With a racer back cut that lengthens and a streamlined, body hugging silhouette, I’m not engulfed in fabric nor is my height dwarfed or frame hidden underneath with this particular maxi dress.
I look forward to more warm days ahead, and maximizing my usage of the Mara Hoffman Basket Weave Maxi Dress for spring/summer 2013.
What’s your favorite maxi dress that you LOVE to wear in the summer?
