The Theme: Natural light and space
The Color Palette: Neutral hues of white, blue, black, and gray
The Signature Piece: Oversized coats, fur, and versatile dresses dominated Nonoo’s fall 2014 collection, but Misha Nonoo’s plaid constructed blazer with a white fur trim is definitely a show stopper. The tailoring of the blazer exudes professional sophistication brought to the sportswear category, while the fur trim adds a bit of originality, personality, and intensity.
The Show: Emerson By Jackie Fraser-Swan
The Theme: Shiny Austerity
The Color Palette: Black and gray with a pop of pink
The Signature Piece: Fraser-Swan’s Fall 2014 collection was composed of androgyny, edge, and femininity. The dark colors, loosely proportioned jackets, and printed sweaters were fresh, young, and cool. Each piece brought to the surface a personality of its own, but Fraser-Swan’s sequined jumpsuit was a stunner. Heavily textured and padded, this jumpsuit exudes ski slope chic. If this piece isn’t making you jump for joy at the thought of six more weeks of winter, I don’t know what will.

The Theme: Modern, edgy, cool-girl with sophisticated, feminine touches.
The Color Palette: The show started with ice blue and cool light grey, then blended to deep charcoal and navy. A palette of mauve, ecru, and glittering gold provided a warm contrast.
The Collection’s Signature Look: All of the pieces were slouchy, well-tailored, and painfully cool. The stand out of the collection was the wearable, super chic outwear. Crackled leather jackets, metallic stamped bombers, sheerling fur collars, and mohair boucle cocoon coats graced the runway in look after look of enviable, swoon-worthy silhouettes.

Each season, Lela Rose lands upon a source of inspiration and runs with it. And, she manages to weave that inspiration so well throughout her collection, that it feels like a narrative—one that connects each look to each other, moving through structured separates to the most elegantly draped dresses.
For fall 2014, the designer channeled the wholesome quality of a homemade meal—one that sits on chef Ferran Adrià’s table at El Bulli, specifically. As always, the clothes exhibited a distinctive textural element, with detail embellishments such as feathers, crystals, guipure lace, and gilded jacquard, providing a unique finishing touch. But, these ensembles felt especially complete in more ways than one. Checked, geometric-esque prints were offset by playful pieces such as a crisp, white blouse with a scalloped hemline, or a flouncy skirt. Satin co-ordinate sets came in demure silhouettes and embellished peplum T-shirts complemented trousers with a lady-like touch. Yes, Rose’s signature, head-turning whimsicality was definitely present.

Finally, not to be overlooked is the appearance of a certain citrine shade that’s popped up on many of the runways this week. I was particularly drawn to this grid embroidered top and skirt set that evokes images of a classy, but also very cool kitchen setting. As for that meal? You can count me in.

Happy Day 2 of Fashion Week! I decided to mix some mint and cranberry (a very “it” color for fall 2014) today, in clean lines that could be considered polished and sophisticated. I went for the wow factor with my jewels and shoes, which take a little careful consideration when matching shapes and colors.
I spent some time layering and adjusting the two necklaces I wore; each stunners on their own, placed together, they created an outstanding wow factor. Overall, I was REALLY into what I put together, feeling like myself, albeit a bit enhanced for fashion week!
