The Show: Parke & Ronen Men’s Ready-to-Wear Spring 2014 CollectionThe Theme: Greek, Greek, Greek
The Color Palette: Coral, Turquoise, Sky Blue, Lemon
The Collection’s Best Look: For spring, Parke & Ronen designers Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel were inspired by Greek Idylls for their swimwear and sportswear collection. An idyll is defined as an extremely happy, peaceful or picturesque episode or scene, typically an idealized or unsustainable one. The duo executed this theme by treating the audience to models with chiseled bodies and beautiful faces with garments in happy, fresh colors. The casual silhouettes, patterns, and fabrics inspired a longing for outdoor picnics and long days of lounging by the sea. Mid-thigh grazing shorts in plaids and stripes were paired with tanks and polos in upbeat colors like lemon, coral, and sky blue. The looks left little to the imagination, with the barely-there swim trunks and perfectly tailored shirts, which fit the models like a glove. One of the standout looks was the Nikos polo in Lemon cotton paired with the Angeleno swim-trunk in Yellow Taverna Plaid stretch microfiber.
ELLE Fashion Next is a runway presentation and awards ceremony featuring emerging designers. Students in the competition are from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).

The Show: Malan Breton Spring 2014The Theme: The Music of the Mid-Century British Rock Invasion
The Color Palette: Ivory, Pink, Robin’s Egg Blue, Teal, Red
The Collection’s Best Look: Inspired by mid-century British rock music, the men’s and women’s suits as well as a number of dresses and gowns were tailored and classic but made anew with splashes of vibrant color, metallic finishes and unique pairings such as leather pants with a light beige blazer and black tie. A stand out ensemble was a pink suit with a metallic sheen, double-breasted blazer and pink tie. Malan Breton partnered with Gold Toe to create suited looks with blazers, shorts and high socks in a variety of colors.
