From the very first model taking the runway, it was obvious that Nicole Miller for spring 2012 was going to be younger, fresher, and more casual, if anything fulfilling the promise in the program notes which described the inspiration as “The speed of wheels in motion. The momentum of a skateboard shredding through the air.” Leggings, jumpers, and blouses made in predominantly fuchsia hodge podge prints and smeared checkerboards brought us back to that era without an exact iteration of it, even re-doing some signatures of the 90s such as color-blocked silk blouses, power dressing via neckties on women. The silhouettes were invariably loose on the top, tighter on the bottom, playing out the sporty motif that is confirmed for spring 2012. The only question is: do you still have your skateboard?
