[Post-treatment, starting the blow dry process]
Ladies, we all know what a good hair day can do for your self-esteem. For this reason alone, I must highly praise (and thank) the Milbon Linkage Meu treatment I recently received at its launch party at the Rita Hazan hair salon on Fifth Avenue.
Linkage Meu is a quick, three-step salon treatment which regenerates the quality of your hair. Designed to be an additional service to a salon’s normal offerings of cut, color and blow dry, the Linkage Meu treatment consists of a shampoo, conditioner, and final coat, plus aroma therapy and a home care component. Cohesively, it protects and conditions to provide silky, smooth, pliable hair.
My consultation began with determining the exact product appropriate for my hair type. I have long, mane-like thick hair (I’m a daily victim to the heat of the blow dryer), so I fell into the “Normal-Coarse” hair type. Fine/Normal and Coarse/Bulky are the two other categories.
First, the hair stylist shampooed per usual, and next, he applied Step 1, an amino oil, to the ends of my hair. This is meant to smooth out the bumps on the surface. Step 2 was a (much-needed) moisture veil massaged and combed thoroughly throughout. After the rinse, he applied Step 3, a smoothing top coat, also massaged throughout and rinsed.
Talk about celeb service; first and foremost, the aroma therapy was FANTASTIC! The 10-15 minute service (I almost wished it took longer, it really did smell that good) consisted of four steps, each punctuated with its own delectable aroma: Step 1 Citrus: fruity orange, and grapefruit, Step 2 Juicy Citrus: lemon and lime, Step 3 Floral: fruity rose and jasmine, and Step 4 Fruity Floral: grapefruit and rose.
[Finished result: What do you think?]
I walked into the salon with brittle, dry hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. Nonetheless, I immediately felt the difference in texture after the wash alone. My hair was physically transformed. It felt like silk – a true rarity. I was hesitant to see if it would maintain its health after the raging heat of the blow dryer, but it did all that and more, as my hair showed visible improvement.
Linkage Meu premiered Oct. 1, 2011 and is now available in salons nationwide. The service, priced anywhere from $45 to $125 depending on location, service time, and service style, comes complete with four ampules to be used by the client at home once a week for four weeks. Don’t fret; extending the life of your treatment proves to be rather simple. You merely shampoo as normal and apply Step 4 of the treatment from the ends, all the while massaging your hair. Rinse and blow dry as normal for moisturized, smooth hair!
I locked in quality pampering and my hair locked in moisture. It was a win-win!
