With a few of my fabulous Style Coalition style bloggers in tow, I went to a casual preview to check out the new Lucky Brand Denim collection for Fall hosted by Lucky Brand & ELLE with included an Exclusive Denim Fitting Party at its NYC Showroom on Tuesday, July 10th. The Lucky Brand Design team, which included Nico Peyrache, met with each of us individually to discuss the latest fabrications, styles, and fits as well as to provide a personalized experience in finding the best denim for each of our particular body and style needs.

Lucky displayed an array of styles that reinforced the idea of a ‘denim democracy;’ that is, offering a fit for every body type and addressing concerns that other brands simply dismiss (muffin top issues, anyone?). It was hard to narrow it down to one pair as a favorite, as each of the styles featured offered a little something different, depending on the occasion. We all wore our own favorite pair of jeans as a jumping off point to embark in our potential new Lucky Brand style; mine wear a 70s bell style from Rock and Republic that took a long time to break in, but once I did it a few months ago, I haven’t worn any other pair since.
The featured Lucky Brand styles that I learned about and tried on at the event were the:
– Sienna Cigarette
– Charlie Skinny
– Sofia Boot, Sofia Skinny and Sofia Straight
– Cate Stacked and Cate Booted

The Sienna Cigarette style was a resounding favorite (pictured below) as it provided a little slouch but not overly so to make it a full-blown boyfriend jean; rather the style was more akin to a really great cuffed weekend jean that is straight, opposed to snug, through the hip and thighs. Every blogger who tried these own looked amazing in them! The Charlie Skinny was an incredibly sleek fit in a great stretchy, comfy, fabric that will look great for a night out paired with a filmy, gauzy feminine blouse. The Sofia (Boot, Skinny, and Straight), are curvy through hip and thigh, sit below the waist for an accommodating mid-rise, are super stretch and beyond soft. There are a variety of wash and cut options – try one, or all three to match with all of your different footwear styles in your closet! These are also fantastic is you’ve got a little more meat on you in your hips and thighs; if your tall try the straight, short try the boot to lengthen, and anyone can do the skinny- just have confidence and you will own the look.
Last, we’ve got the Cate (Stacked or Booted), that literally provide the best of both worlds with a mini rise in the front, and a high back rise — genius!! These are great for virtually any body type, and now that you don’t have to worry about anything peeking out of the top of the jean in the back; go ahead and wear those on-trend crop tops!
[Checking out my derriere in the mirror (yet again!) in the Sienna Cigarette style]
My two best fits were the Sienna Cigarette (above and below) and the Cate Stacked; I couldn’t get over how comfortable and soft they were, plus easily slipped on without any bunching or gapping or too much of a low-rise in the back. I even did a few ‘tests’ for the gals which included bending, squatting, sitting, and dancing to see how functional the jeans were right out the gate. It really was an incredible experience; especially considering how petite I am, I was thinking the proportions might be off but no way–they fit just like the pair I wore there, that as you recall, took months to break in.
I never would have thought that I would be attracted to a boyfriend style, but lo and behold, I was totally smitten with the Sienna (and Nico and the blogger gals conferred it was the one for me!). Gotta love Lucky Brand Denim for making a potentially anxiety-prone experience of finding the perfect jean for a variety of body types a breeze!

You are so Lucky!!! I wish I could get a denim consult! Love the wash on the Sienna Cigarette, good pick.
I absolutely love Lucky jeans! It is very obvious that they take time to create jeans that fit almost every body type and it is very much appreciated!
That’s awesome! So glad you’re a fan – stay tuned for my post with the new pair-they literally just arrived five minutes ago. 🙂
