I can’t believe that this past weekend was the first time I went to the beach all summer, and I also realized once we arrived that I hadn’t been to Asbury Park in (gasp!) 20 years! We fought the traffic heading south out of NYC this past Saturday to meander on the boardwalk, check out the sites and shops, lay on the sand, and dine on sweet and savory bites. Before slipping into our swimsuits, we explored the relics of a bygone era along the quite streets of Ocean Grove leading into the adjacent town of Asbury Park, and enjoyed the renaissance that it is experiencing via cool boutiques, antiques, and a plethora of sidewalk cafes, surf shops, and cute coffee outposts.
It was a bit windy but warm, so the less layers on, the better. I did sprout some new freckles before I had the chance to lather on some sunscreen, so SPF 50 is my favorite (and must-have) accessory in the summer (see the Today.com feature on sunscreen that I was quoted in). All in all, a coral lip, some bright jewels, and wedge sandals round out my warm weather look.
