[Hubble package arrival: perfectly-branded box with daily lenses and an instruction pamphlet]
There’s no denying that I’m a sucker for great design and thoughtful branding, and Hubble is absolutely the real deal, the full (and 100% recyclable) package, keeping everything it puts out sleek, straightforward, and display-worthy. Some products can have the benefit of resting on their laurels when it comes to looks, being able to get away with the actual product being average or even sub-par, but for something as utilitarian as a contact lens, there must be quite a bit of substance behind the product itself.
The New York City-based startup, co-founded by Jesse Horwitz and Ben Cogan, formerly of Harry’s (the direct-to-consumer, subscription razor brand), sought to create a safe contact lens solution that was at its core, affordable and efficient. Interestingly enough, the current landscape of contact lens manufacturers have a relative monopoly on the market, resulting in ridiculous markups of 15%-100%, which the consumer has no choice but to absorb. Hubble fills in the void in the contact lens market by using a FDA-approved Taiwan-based manufacturer St. Shine to produce its private label brand and cuts hence cuts out the middleman.

The lenses are made of a high-grade methafilcon, a hydrogel material with a high water content (55%) for moisture, plus UV protection and a thin contact edge for comfort. When I tested the contacts, courtesy of Hubble and given my myriad of eye issues, I was skeptical at how much of a difference they could possibly make, but it was quickly evident it was a MAJOR one; clearly, seeing is believing! For someone who infrequently wears contacts due to eye woes, I rapidly felt that all of that was about to change, all thanks to Hubble’s excellent product and results.
It offers direct-to-consumer, hassle-free lenses can be trusted to not only optimize and protect eye health but also to be reliable in consistently delivering its product in a timely fashion. All Hubble lenses are daily disposables, the best kind in order to lock in eye hydration and prevent bacterial growth, with pricing at $30 per month for a monthly subscription (60 lenses), or $264 for an annual subscription. For commitment-phobes, take a test run for free: every new customer gets their first two weeks of lenses courtesy of Hubble (plus $3 for shipping & handling), and can cancel anytime, including during the free trial period. Spring of 2017 will see the growth of Hubble lens options, ushering in the arrival of a full set of powers for those with an astigmatism so that everyone can enjoy the convenience and clarity of Hubble lenses!
