Happy Friday! I wanted to send you off into the weekend with the latest and greatest that I’ve experienced, tested, and heard this week from the worlds of fashion and beauty. Enjoy!
Last night was the Style Coalition Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards,a black tie affair that upped the ante with a bevy of familiar fashion faces presenting, winning, and being honored, such as Robert Verdi (the host of the evening), designer Zac Posen, model Coco Rocha, and TV personality and style expert Jeannie Mai. Award winners included Marc Jacobs (@MarcJacobsIntl) for Best Twitter, Nordstrom for the Best Pinterest Page, Nike Fuel Band for Best Wearable Tech, DKNY for Best Online Campaign (DKNY Draft), and the Fashion Visionary Award was given to Warby Parker. If you missed it, never fear: watch the awards ceremony via its livestream, found here.
‘Nordstrom Loves BaubleBar’ is just around the corner! The collaborative pop-up bar is hitting 35 Nordstrom stores and online at Nordstrom.com, with a great collection of new and exclusive jewelry of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings priced from $24 to $68. See above for some of the Fashion Pulse Daily-declared most stunning pieces from the capsule collection!
As part of The Warhol‘s 20th anniversary festivities, the exhibit Halston and Warhol: Silver and Suede, opens on May 18th, 2014 (closes August 24th, 2014) and takes an in-depth look at the links between these two influential contemporaries and friends from the worlds of fashion and art respectively, whose impact on those two industries extends into today. On display will be some of Halston’s garments, which include dresses (his signature ultrasuede dress), hats, and accessories, juxtaposed with Warhol’s photography, videos and paintings.
If you find yourself in Pittsburgh during this time, I encourage a visit to The Warhol, a one-of-a-kind cultural institution that has played a vital role in the city’s growth and development as thriving on the arts of past, present, and future. Stop by on May 18th and admission is free in honor of the museum’s 20th anniversary.
Glasses.com gleefully encourage my addiction to on-trend frames this week by showcasing some of the hottest trends trends for this summer for both eyewear and sunwear, prescription and non-prescription, including retro chic, geometric, mirrored, and hues of purple. Needless to say, I loved every one of them, going selfie-crazy trying on over a dozen pairs, and right now, the site is offering free lenses with your purchase of frames, plus, get an exclusive 15% off all pairs, at glasses.com via this code: gls15off –expires on March 31, 2014).
All of this is of course exciting, however, I am most thrilled to announce the first-ever Glasses.com exclusive collection, Kensington Road. Great quality frames and lenses, with shipping included, can be all yours for just $89. Amazing, right? Leave it to Glasses.com to make eyewear fashionable and affordable. Stay tuned for the arrival of the new lineup, arriving in the summer of 2014, and in the meanwhile, see the frames at top for a sneak peek of what to expect.
Since my hair is non-compliant about 95% of the time, I’m always looking for new ways to infuse some volume and staying power into my tresses. I recently tried the Conair AdjustaCurl Rollers, self gripping rollers can adjust to any size to achieve loose waves, tight curls, or merely some added volume at the roots. They are larger in width than my normal velcro rollers, which means that I can get more hair on each one, and are great for travel since they can be rolled out and compressed, making more space in your suitcase. See this how to use video for more info on how to layer them into your hair.
Since my hair is longer now, blowing it out takes longer than I’d like, however, upgrading to a larger round brush, as I did when I tested the John Frieda Large Porcupine Round Brush Volume Curls, certainly helps to speed up the process! With both nylon and boar bristles, and plenty of airway holes, this brush works to rapidly dry the hair while using ION technology to smooth the hair cuticle for additional shine and less flyaways and frizz. Both products have a suggested price of $14.99, and can be found at mass food and drug retailers nationwide.
Full Disclosure: Some of the products mentioned in this feature were given to Fashion Pulse Daily for editorial consideration.

Thanks Laura – you rock! 🙂
