Happy Friday everyone! And the countdown is on to my…birthday!
NARS is one of my go-to makeup brands ever since I was allowed to use my mom’s lipsticks (NARS lipsticks in the 1990s — you couldn’t really get much cooler than that!) and now, the cheek shades in particular hold a special significance for me, since I wore two of them on my wedding day. Perhaps that’s why I’m so excited about the arrival July 1st of the limited edition #NARSissist Dual-Intensity Cheek Palette ($59), an all-in-one palette that not only has four brand spanking new shades, but covers all of your cheekbone bases with a highlight, blush, and two contouring hues in NARS’ signature Dual-Intensity formula. and simply put, if you just merely look at it, you know that it’s just gorgeous, darling! You’ll find this palette exclusively on NARSCosmetics.com and NARS boutiques July 1st, then available August 1st at Sephora, department and specialty stores.
After my trip to Japan and seeing the Miyake Issey exhibit or rather, retrospective at the National Art Center in Tokyo, I’ve become even more rapt with the innovation and thoughtfulness that the brand continually presents with its newest fragrance launch, L’Eau d’Issey Pure being no exception. It evolves the concept of its forerunner, L’Eau d’Issey and reinstates simplicity, purity, and modernity into the actual bottle design and notes themselves. Taking a single drop of water as inspiration, both the bottle design and the fragrance itself evolves into an unusual concoction of Maritima combined with Ambergris, Crystalline Lily-of the-Valley, and Orange Blossom. Essence of Rose Damascena and Cashmeran round out the scent, without a citrus note to be found anywhere, unusual in contemporary fragrance “juices.”Pick up this one-of-a-kind scent in the 1.6 oz Eau de Parfum Spray ($88) or the 3oz Eau de Parfum Spray ($108) at fine retailers nationwide.
It’s true that I have an on-going love affair with coconut, so when the Suave Professionals Coconut Infusion line was introduced its me, I knew that only awesome things lie ahead. Six products reap the benefits of coconut oil, which means you get amazingly hydrated hair results, controlled to be lightweight and works to repair damage. Included is the Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Shampoo & Conditioner, Damage Repair Oil Treatment, Deep Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, and Intense Moisture Mask. At $2.99-$5.99 per item, you can afford to pick up the entire line, and still have some money left over for a tropical, coconut water -infused drink too! Do you know what these are? Have you ever tried ear candles before? I’ve used them on and off for about a dozen years, picking them up at natural food and health stores, while simultaneously nervous and fascinated by the fact that you light one end on fire, and stick the other one in your ear! I always thought that they cleaned out the ear canal, and at 7-8 minutes per candle/per ear, it gives you ample, uninterrupted time to think about what’s going on over there! Wally’s Natural considers it a calming and relaxing, an almost meditative exercise, while the slight smoke from the candle causes a bit of an airiness and sensation not terribly unlike sticking your ear up to a conch shell to “hear the ocean.” The ear candles I tried come in lavender or unscented formulations, made of high grade paraffin and need to be trimmed periodically during the burning process, extinguished toward the end into a bowl of water. If you’re curious, give them a try; at only $6.29 for a two pack, it’s a low price to pay for a little bit of bliss. Purchase these, and other ear care products, at WallysNatural.com
