I think by now you know that I’m a sucker for commodities that are at once unusual and practical, and the
New from Cricket Centrix Heat Boss Brushes fit the bill. Featured is my favorite — the Heat Boss Vent Brush, which has a switch on it to open the vents in order to dry hair quickly, and then close them to let in less air in order to style, add body, and set the look. Pretty cool, right? The chrome-plated brush easily heats up, while the static-free nylon bristles have ball tips infused with ceramic, tourmaline, ions to be able to manage the heat. Intrigued? Pick one up at Ulta! The Vent Brush and Paddle Brush retails for $23.25, while the Thermal Brush is $24.95.
An AMAZING skincare brand was right under my nose all of this time, and can’t believe I’m just discovering it now. If you also haven’t heard of Task Essential, please let me be the first to share it with you! It’s signature approach is to fight aging, pollution, stress, and tobacco exposure through its proprietary liquid oxygen complex, which helps to preserve hydration and manage collagen found within the skin. Of course, it also promotes skin texture, firmness, elasticity and radiance, with the aid of alpine red snow algae, edelweiss, Swiss glacial water, and water mint. The line has a complete build-out of products (eye cream, deodorant, face wash, exfoliant, shave lather, etc), with the newest being the Wash Off Total Body Shower Gel ($25) and the Oxywater Facial Spray ($18). Items are available at TaskEssential.com, and at fine and specialty retailers nationwide, such as Barneys New York, Nordstrom, Sephora, and Bloomingdale’s.
I know that I may be biased, as I just love Athleta so much, but I swear that it just gets better and better with every collection that rolls out. For fall 2016, the brand has truly perfected its lifestyle offerings while the Athleta Girl collection is in full swing. What a great idea that was, to add in a lineup of high-quality, stylish, performance clothing that offer added benefits such as UPF 50+ Sun Protection. I digress, but I can tell you to look forward to garments that will exceed expectations for a variety of activities, with a very nice smattering of them being perfect for yoga. The work out bottoms come in a variety of lengths and details, featuring mesh and cool cut-outs for an added fashion flair. Layer the pieces up, and run from one event in your life to the next without the thought of changing into something else surfacing or worse- lugging a bag of clothes with you!
It just so happened that I showed up at the yoga studio this morning for a “sunrise yoga” class and…the door was locked. After ringing the buzzer for 10 minutes, and assuming that the class must have been cancelled without anything notifying its participants, I glumly returned home, fully decked out in my work out gear with a mat slung over my shoulder. But wait! All was not lost, as I had the The Beauty Detox Power Yoga Series DVD still in its wrapper and waiting for me at home. Created by certified nutritionist and yoga expert, Kimberly Snyder, the Vinyasa-based DVD offers up a 60-minute advanced beginner class, a 60-minute intermediate class, and a 7-minute guided breathing exercise.
I maintained my calm, zen-seeking mentality without much disruption as I began the intermediate course, which I found to aptly stretch and challenge me, recovering my yoga practice for the day. Being able to utilize the convenience of a yoga DVD in your home can be the difference between practicing and not practicing, and I was so relieved to have a well-instructed option available to me. If you’d like to give this particular DVD a try, The Beauty Detox Power Yoga Series is available for $29 on www.kimberlysnyder.com.
How pretty is Zoya‘s summer 2016 collection? Titled “Sunsets,” the lineup of six shades are all in the cream family (my favorite!), and truly cover the primary, poppy, saturated color spectrum perfectly. If you’re more of a sparkle gal, the “Seashells” summer 2016 collection is infused with Zoya’s sparkly signature PixieDust formula in six varied shade options as well. All polishes retail for $10 each, and are available at Zoya.com or through specialty and spa retailers.
