Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer

Believe me when I tell you I’m always on the quest for the perfect, ultra-creamy, wand applicator concealer, and since my favorite one was discontinued several years ago, I’ve been searching high and low to fill the void. That is, until last week, when COVERGIRL’s Ready Set Gorgeous concealer landed at my office. It smoothly hits all of the items on my checklist, which are creamy, easily blendable yet effective, versatile for both under eyes and face, and a great color match for my skin tone. Plus, the tube size is an ultra generous one at 11 ml which is sure to last for quite a while, and it only costs about $6 -score!

Wondering what color concealer you may be? I know this can get tricky, but COVERGIRL makes it easy for you via its Fab Lab site — upload your photo and find your color match here!

Ban Wipes

Since the summer started, everyone seems to be taking about the “Ban Wipes” and how awesome they are, so of course when given the opportunity to try them out…I pounced on it! Formally known as the Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths, available in three different scents (Restore, Enliven and Invigorate), and  at 10 cloths per packet and retailing for about $6, I quickly discovered that these compact little cloths can be put to a myriad of on-the-go uses! I pack A LOT into each day, so after hitting the gym or a spin class I occasionally meet friends for dinner or drinks, and the ability to give myself a quick wipe-over makes me feel more confident and fresh, instead of inducing a heavy spray of a fragrance bomb all over.

I often times feel icky when I travel, and since I’m taking the bus to Washington DC this weekend and immediately meeting up with friends when I step off, keeping these in my bag will sure come in handy. My favorite use? I know this isn’t the sexiest one, but wiping my feet! Especially in the city, your feet can get pretty dirty from wearing sandals or flip flops, so it’s never a bad idea to give them a wipe (or wash) before heading to bed.

vmv hyopallergenics

Last week I visited one of my favorite skin care brands, VMV Hypoallergenics, in the Soho/Nolita area for a relaxing facial, which reminded me that not all skin care brands are created equal. VMV features a grading system that rates its hypoallergenicity of products, which rates product’s safety based upon how many allergens the product does not contain, which means that if you have sensitive skin and reactions to certain known or even unknown ingredients, VMV is a great, safe brand to try that offers everything from makeup, makeup brushes, remover, and sunscreen to moisturizer, face wash, shampoo, antiperspirant, toothpaste, and items for baby too! Gotta love the brand’s care packages too, which let you try a few products at once for a great price.

I also received via email a list of skin dos and don’ts from the brand post-facial, which I wish more spas did! Here’s a few of the tips from VMV, that I’m sure will come in handy:

1) Keep away from the sun and slather on sunscreen every day, indoors and out.

2) Hold off on at-home peels and alpha-hydroxy active treatments for at least 48 hours.

3) As with most health concerns (including bumps!), prevention is always better: don’t touch your skin.

redken fashio waves 07

There’s no more “it” hair style this summer than sexy, beachy waves, which has been steadily growing in popularity over the past few years and now has the product to support its seamless creation. With Redken’s new Fashion Waves 07 Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, actual epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)  is used to master that beach hair-derived texture, while still maintaining control thanks to an overall lightweight body that enables movement. Spray it on damp hair, scrunch, and let it air dry, or use it to enhance already-existing waves by spritzing it on throughout the day.  Pick up at botle for $19 at a Redken Salon or authorized retailer near you.

zoya naturel 2
Although I am known for working vibrant hues into my wardrobe and beauty routine, I always find a sense of relief in grounding myself in some outstanding neutral shades very now and again. Just in time to suit my craving, the Zoya Naturel 2 Collection arrives, an array of six opaque, creamy shades that are offered in natural brown and plums dubbed (from left to right) Spencer, Chanelle, Emilia, Marni, Aubrey, and Madeline. Gorgeous, right? As always, Zoya polishes are 5-Free, which means that they do not contain the usual omissions, DBP, Tuluene and Formaldehyde, Fromaldehyde Resin and Camphor. Each polish costs $9, and can be purchased at Zoya.com starting July 28th.

Last night I attended an introduction to The Venetian Las Vegas’ Female Comedy Series, LIPSHTICK – The Perfect Shade of Stand Up, which is the first show of its kind, running through at least December, that features females comics such as Joy Behar, Lisa Lampanelli, Jennifer Coolidge, Caroline Rhea, Whitney Cummings, and more doing stand up (see the Venetian.com‘s site for each comedienne’s bio and a list of performance dates). I learned last night that the Venetian and a joining property, the Palazzo, comprise the largest hotel in the world (wow!), with 7,000 suites, 17 fine dining restaurants, and 50,000 visitors each day! Pretty amazing stats, but now, back to the show details: ticket prices for the show range from $37.50 to $97.50, plus tax and handling fees. Purchase them by calling The Venetian Box Office at 702-414-9000 or online at Lipshtick.com, Venetian.com, or Ticketmaster.com.

Full Disclosure: some of the products mentioned in this feature were given gratis to Fashion Pulse Daily for editorial review purposes.
