It’s no surprise that New York City’s Port Authority essentially resides in the Garment District, but who would have ever thought to stage a fashion pop-up shop there? Well, somebody did, and that somebody is Refiner29; the fashion blog and indie designer e-commerce site. Dubbed “Save Fashion“, the month-long pop-up store is additionally sponsored by the Fashion Center Business Improvement District, the Times Square Alliance and The Port Authority and focusing on boosting awareness of maintaining the Garment District as such. A total of 60 designers will be showcased with a different group of designers each week, all offering steep discounts on their wares. Including labels such as Madewell, Rogan, and Charlotte Ronson, the store will host an April 30th launch party in the store’s dedicated “Blank SL8” space in Port Authority.
I don’t know about you, but if you’re from NYC or have to use the Port Authority, you generally want to spend as little time as possible in there. There have been attempts in recent years to give it a makeover, which I feel are leaning toward positive results, so let’s see what happens with the pop-up. I only live a few block away, so will be most likely checking it out and reporting back on my findings.
