Chanel Spring Couture 2013 Inspired Hair

As gorgeous as the fairy-like makeup and hair accoutrement details were, I couldn’t stop staring at the hair from the Chanel Spring Couture 2013 show. Both romantic and messy, the textures were mixed between sleeked back a puffy updo — a very playful and modern evolution of the hair styles seen on the runways, and in real life, the past few years. I wanted to duplicate the hybrid of textures look, and wear it to the office all day long – would it work?

Sure it would! I started with the UNITE Beach Day Texturizing Spray on dry, “second day: hair, scrunched, added a bit of finishing spray for extra hold, twisted, and bound with an elastic in a loose bun. After an hour, I let it loose! It looked amazing- great volume and texture, certainly providing piecy texture — part I now complete.

On to part II– I used a flat, mid-width nylon bristle brush tip to create a deep side part, then ran the brush through the top part of the beach hair to smooth it out. I brought the rest back into a chignon, popping out some pieces here and there to show off the texture. Although I may not be the spitting image of a Chanel runway model, and just couldn’t find a large crow feather to drape over one eye, I think that the basic premise of the look: two exreme textures and an imperfect updo, were achieved with little effort.

Would you try this look at home?
