The Show: Max Mara Fall 2013
The Theme: Bauhaus oversized and layered
The Color Palette: Camel, mustard, brown, navy, grey, and black
The Collection’s Best Look: Max Mara went for chic comfort referencing the Bauhaus movement by layering coats with voluminous proportions in largely monochromatic looks from the label’s signature camel hue, to mustard, brown, navy, grey, and black. Known for outerwear, the collection presented many variations of its signature coats, from alpaca peacoats, to windbreakers and parkas. These cozy pieces were combined with oversized sweaters and pants or pencil skirts complete with a crocodile handbag done in a matching color. Even the evening looks did not sacrifice style for comfort with loose velvet pants paired with a cable-knit sweater. With this collection, Max Mara has provided women with a very stylish way to brave any storm they must face.

There’s no mistaking that I love fashion and beauty, but specifically, accessories just DO IT for me. Nothing gets my pulse racing like a fabulously textured suede slouchy bag, dangling chandelier earrings, a poppy neon patent belt, or an ultra fine silk scarf enveloping my neck. Do accessories get you excited too? If so, you won’t want to miss the Henri Bendel Summer 2013 collection, complete with everything your heart desires from fabulous new jewels to stylish turnlock wallets and functional bags, like the front pocket zip-off leather grain tote, which doubles as a chic envelope clutch or case for your iPad! Check out my favorites above, with many falling under a decidedly art deco theme –one of my favorite design aesthetics of all time.

The Show: Zang Toi Fall 2013 Collection
The Theme: A modern take on Imperial Russia that re-imagines the historical and opulent looks of the fabergé egg and Perterhof Palace.
The Color Palette: Beige & grey pairings, black & jewel tones
The Standout Look: Of the high-powered looks commanding authority and exuding elegance in Zang Toi’s Fall 2013 collection, the floor length black velvet dresses with gold embroidery left the most lasting impression. A series of grey and black suits with beige and fur accents followed by evening gowns in mesmerizing jewel tones which paid homage to the well-executed theme of reigning royalty and sophisticated triumph.

The Lela Rose Pre-Fall 2013 collection was inspired by the paintings of abstract artist Clyfford Still. The bright colors, jagged edges, and unique patterns throughout the collection are clearly reflective of Still’s signatures found in his work. The lineup of looks primarily consist of loose fitting pants, contemporary jackets, and fun cocktail dresses. Dripped paint embroideries and tweed-like patterns add an unusual yet interesting take on texture.
