I have a serious bone to pick with whoever said that wearing black and blue together is a fashion faux pas. This rule is utterly erroneous these days! You absolutely CAN wear black and navy together; take the fall 2012 runways as inspiration as to how to perfectly pair the two neutrals together.
No one did black and blue better than Rebecca Taylor in her Fall 2012 RTW collection (seen above). She effortlessly mixed the colors to craft unique looks that are dark and edgy, yet sophisticated.
Being that both of these hues are neutrals, black and navy actually work quite well together. I adore the way a navy sweater looks with black jeans, or the way a black dress looks with a navy blazer. Navy looks fantastically improper (and anything but wrong) when paired with black accessories. The best practice for putting together a black and blue look is to make sure the colors are distinguishable from each other (i.e. don’t pair a hue of navy-black with a matte black item), and keep the fabrications in similar families, i.e. silks with other light weight fabrics, wovens with wovens, jersey with jersey). Enough talk about it, here’s how we’d arrange our best black and blue ensembles: Continue reading…

Chloé Resort 2013
Peace, love and affluence describes the latest serene resort collection for Chloé, in which shapes are passive, moving easily with the body and the wind. Crisp cotton poplin and cotton grosgrain comprise comfortable dresses and tops to reign the looks in. The color palette is just as easy, yet brilliant, in the same way that leisure is exciting. Cinched waists assisted the body in a collection of largely loose-fitting clothing, while trouser pants enjoyed a moment as well.

The Resort 2013 Collection from Alexander Wang is soon going to be what every girl will be coveting. From the ribbed knit sweaters to the oversized trousers, Wang has once again designed a collection that oozes downtown cool with modern and grunge-y twists. For resort, Wang lightened things up a bit with less leather and lacquered pieces, in favor of lighter colors and sheer dresses. Of course in typical Wang fashion, most of the pieces are black and not for the faint of fashion heart. Wang delivers minimalist-chic with a sexy tough-girl edge once again.
