The Show: Ruffian
The Theme: Dramatized Britain
The Color Palette: Monochromatic; blacks and greys
The Standout Look: Considering the designers’ background in fine arts and costume design, it is no surprise this collection had such a dramatic flare. Ruffian took classic British styles and revamped them with theatrical embellishments such as tassel necklaces, capes, and silk and leather neck ties. One of the standout looks was a bright purple cropped pant suit layered over a pinstripe shirt dress. The outfit was completed with the signature cap of the collection. The combination of colors, patterns and garments in this ensemble was extremely unpredictable and, therefore, completely exciting to watch as it easily emulates Ruffian’s signature style.

The Show: Jill Stuart
The Theme: Aristocratic Brit
The Color Palette: Dark neutrals and a variety of reds and oranges
The Standout Look: Jill Stuart’s fall collection was delightfully filled with lighthearted, elegant cocktail dresses and pant/jacket combos that have both day and night potential. Each piece showed exquisite detail with laser cut wool, lace, and silks fabrics. While all of the dresses were incredibly unique and sophisticated, one that stuck out in particular was a long-sleeved, silk striped dress. The black stripes were masterfully pieced together to create an intricate and flattering design, while the peplum skirt and accentuated shoulders gave the frock an extra bit of flare. The dress is both feminine and polished, making it a perfect outfit for just about any outing.

Throughout the show, luminescent bright blues and yellows were splashed onto the runway, and as the models proceeded to line up one by one, Betsey quickly appeared in order to lead a workout routine. Taking on the role of a “personal trainer,” Betsey wore a black and white workout ensemble to fit her own personal style. Shouting “one, two, three, four; oh god you guys look great,” Betsey inspires everyone to become active and fashionable! Although she did present an array of active wear, Betsey’s signature buoyant dresses and accoutrement, more appropriate for evening, also made an appearance.

The Show: Cushnie Et Ochs Fall 2013
The Theme: Pilgrims and Witches
The Color Palette: White, black, dark green, and grey
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The design duo most well known for their body conscious dresses decided to travel into the woods for fall and presented looks that were polished and sleek. A fox fur jacket paired with a crisp white dress encapsulated the wintry whites while an array of dresses in forest green featured more modest versions of the brand’s signature cutouts. An eye catching piece amidst the monochromatic cast of colors was a silk dress with a print of sunlight peeping through the branches of trees in a wood. If anyone should happen to get lost in the woods, these are the clothes that they would certainly want to find there.

The Show: Parkchoonmoo Fall 2013
The Theme: Winter frost
The Color Palette: Black, white, and blue
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: Parkchoonmoo’s ready-to-wear collection for fall will keep people looking sleek and confident if they happen to find themselves visiting an arctic tundra. Black padded sweatshirts, white turtlenecks and tailored leather separates made the model’s look as cool as the weather was during the recent blizzard in New York. Images of glaciers were printed on a few of the shirts as a nod to the collection’s inspiration of a winter landscape. One particular look that stood out was a black satin dress that looked as though a small blanket was tied around the model’s shoulders, coming together in a knot at the front. Knits came into play with oversized ivory turtlenecks and cozy sweaters in the same shade.
