The Theme: Dark, layered and defined
The Color Palette: Back, dark green, grey, and navy.
the inspiration behind the choosing these hues was based off the mystical interiors by Axel Vervoodt, as well as from Wabi Sabi influences of simplicity and humility.
The Signature, Standout Look: Brandon Sun for fall 2013 was truly a ready-to-wear collection that could have stepped off of the presentation platform and into the New York City streets, something that Bill Cunningham would have absolutely loved to immediately photograph. Deep V’s, high slits, and intricate back detailing were most present but most noted was the layering of different fabrics and textures, while still keeping with the contours of a women’s shape. The combining of fabrics, like sheer mesh with fur or silks with knits, all of the same color scheme gave these looks a bold monochromatic feel. The slouchy yet defined collection can be transformed from fall to winter easily, whether it be adding or shedding a layer, you will be city slick in any one of these pieces.
The Show: Josie Natori
The Theme: Chinoserie Inspired by 1930s Opulence
The Signature, Standout Look: A nostalgic feeling took over the Josie Natori Fall 2013 presentation as models posed in front of an abstract floral folding wall with retro yet glam hair and makeup. Although the color palette drastically varied, it was the intricate embellishments and embroidered dragon patterns that gave these garments a subtle richness that was the standout, and signature of the Natori brand that made each piece a collectible.

The Show: Ralph Rucci Fall 2013
The Theme: Futuristic luxury
The Color Palette: Black accented by purple, pink, and yellow
Best Look/Collection’s Signature Standout Piece: Ralph Rucci’s most recent collection continues to prove that he is a, if not THE master of his craft. Rucci demonstrated his penchant towards the finer things in life with looks made of luxurious fabrics such as cashmere, lace, and silk combined with leather, sable and feather coats. Another major focus of the collection was the use of vibrant colors, especially shades of violet that were featured in everything from cashmere suits to shimmering pajama bottom pants. A silk violet dress that was overlayed with black lace combined with a glistening black fur coat epitomized the inherent luxury of the whole collection.
The show: Joanna Mastroianni
The theme: Metallic Eveningwear
The color palette: Black, gold, and silver; blue, pink, purple, and red
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: For those fall/winter night outings, Joanna Mastroianni sincerely wanted the women who wear her clothes to be spotted easily in a crowd with her bright and glistening lineup of dresses and separates. The collection included a mixture of metallic dresses in bright pops of pink, purple, or red and gowns with fun details such as a fringed skirt or a jeweled collar paired with feathered coats. Sheer chiffon sleeves and collars were added to a few of the dresses for a look that allowed the silhouettes to err on the side of conservative while still showing off a bit of skin.

The Show: Carolina Herrera Fall 2013
The Theme: 1940s screen sirens
The Color Palette: creams, beige, vibrant blue, black, slate, emerald
The Collection’s Signature Look: There’s a reason why Carolina Herrera is a household name, and her latest collection, set to the sounds of the London Contemporary Orchestra, gave amazing 40s-inspired silhouettes that weren’t afraid to bring a strong accentuation on the waist, along with a bit of softened, yet pronounced, shoulder definition. From carefully designed prints to elegant twists of fabric and the finest of sequin patterning, it’s clear to see that Herrera is a master of her craft, providing pieces that are at once fully recognized as signature Herrera opulence, but versatile enough to blend into the modern style aesthetic.

Show: Falguni and Shane Peacock
Color Palette: Jade, plum, burgundy, metallic, black
Theme: Wild Child Elegance
Standout Looks from the Collection: Sophistication has a sassy dark side this season at Falguni and Shane Peacok; case in point was strongly reiterated by the show’s final look, a feminine, sleek, and mildly futuristic evening look. A mirror exoskeleton corset cinched in the waist of the glittering champagne gown, while a metallic and leather choker dressed the model’s neck.
