Toward the end of fashion week, I was interviewed on camera by Sara Bauknecht of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, addressing my favorite trends from fall 2013. I am talking about a mile a minute, starting at about 27 seconds into the video, and I’d love you to hear about what I think will be big for fall, and of course, my favorites too– enjoy!

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2013: Gucci, Versace, Emilio Pucci
The Show: Gucci Fall 2013
The Theme: Dark, sexy, demure
The Color Palette: Black, purple, dark orange, teal, brown, and olive
The Collection’s Best Look: For fall, Gucci’s head designer Frida Giannini created a collection that showed that dressing sexy does not mean you have to expose a lot of skin. The looks were given a soft, sculpted silhouette with rounded shoulders on the jackets while the dresses created an hourglass figure with padded hips accessorized with black elbow length gloves and knee-high boots. Standout pieces were the black leather turtlenecks worn under many of the looks and a handful of form-fitting python dresses that conveyed a subtle yet certain dominatrix vibe. This theme was carried over to the evening looks where a sheer lace mesh bodice embroidered with sequins and feathers topped silk cocktail dresses and gowns in shades of teal, purple, and gold.
The Show: Versace Fall 2013
The Theme: Versace goes punk, or rather, “Vunk!”
The Color Palette: Black, white, yellow and red
The Collection’s Best Look: Punk gets a glamorous and sexy makeover in the hands of Donatella Versace. Continue reading…

Milan Fashion Week FALL 2013: Max Mara, Jil Sander
The Show: Max Mara Fall 2013
The Theme: Bauhaus oversized and layered
The Color Palette: Camel, mustard, brown, navy, grey, and black
The Collection’s Best Look: Max Mara went for chic comfort referencing the Bauhaus movement by layering coats with voluminous proportions in largely monochromatic looks from the label’s signature camel hue, to mustard, brown, navy, grey, and black. Known for outerwear, the collection presented many variations of its signature coats, from alpaca peacoats, to windbreakers and parkas. These cozy pieces were combined with oversized sweaters and pants or pencil skirts complete with a crocodile handbag done in a matching color. Even the evening looks did not sacrifice style for comfort with loose velvet pants paired with a cable-knit sweater. With this collection, Max Mara has provided women with a very stylish way to brave any storm they must face.
The Show: Jil Sander Fall 2013
The Theme: Streamlined minimalism
The Color Palette: Black, grey, orange, yellow, and navy

Think pretty, mainly natural makeup for fall 2013, and either focus on an amazing ip, or totally neglect it, and you will be on trend! See below for some of our favorite backstage makeup looks.
Soooo gorgeous, right? At Clover Canyon, lead makeup artist Deanna Melluso for Kevyn Aucoin created a “Russian ballerina ice princess” aesthetic that aws just utterly gorgeous. She started off with the brand’s Sensual Skin Tinted Balm coupled with Celestial Powder in Candlelight to give the cheekbones a slightly ethereal glow. The lips were kept pretty bare and matte, while the eyes got the royal treatment of Snow eyeshadow all over the lid and in the tearducts, finishing off with curling the lashes and Volume & Curling Mascara just to the top lashes — stunning!
