The first day was a looong one, but so far, the trends emerging for spring 2014 (if we dare say there are trends, already on day 1!) are fringe, casual meets luxe (sweat shirts with hand wrought detailing), long layers, tightly cropped moto jackets, “genie” flats varied length layers, black and white, poppy red, and pastels. Stay tuned for more reports from the week, and here’s a quick wrap up from some of the shows from Day 1.
BCBGMAXAZRIA: Forever a crowd-pleaser, neutrals abounded with touches of champagne and blush, worked into unusual fabrications such as chambray, twill, and georgette.
Nicholas K: The master of #1 the tunic, and #2 the hoodie, it doesn’t get much more casual luxe than this!

[Tadashi Shoji Spring 2014]
Tadashi: Inspired by

The Show: Josie Natori Spring 2014
The Theme: Natori pulled inspiration from the glamorous women of 1930s Hollywood. The collection displayed a sense of sophistication and charm, while still paying homage to the designer’s Philippine roots.
The Color Palette: Although soft neutrals started the show off, the collection’s color palette included everything from punchy fuchsias and oranges to soft pastels and even gold and silver metallics.
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: A silk short-sleeved top and matching wide leg pant really embodied the collection. The bright colors of this look’s watercolor print add something unexpected to the classic silhouette, proving that Natori can bring East and West together flawlessly.
