The Show: Rebecca Taylor
The Theme: Sporty & Flirty
The Color Palette: Pastels, White
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: The venue’s white walls and wooden floors were the perfect backdrop for the soft pastels and floral prints of Rebecca Taylor’s Spring 2014 collection. Keeping patterns to a minimum, the beauty was found in the simplicity of it all. Roomy, boxy cuts and lots of layers were integral to the lineup, while the standout look had to be this great floral suit, which combined masculine, tomboy elements with an extremely soft and feminine balance.

The Show: Hache
The Theme: Country Rock of the ‘50s with New York’s Punk Scene of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s
The Color Palette: Red, Blue, Black, White, Light Pink
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: With a motif of country rock combo’ed with punk, Manuela Arcari has created a collection that relies on the Spring 2014 layer trend. Some of the most important looks included washed out leather softened over baby blue lightweight fabrics in loose silhouettes. Belts were big in this collection in order to give way to the ‘50s inspired dresses, while the light neutrals, popular from the ‘50s, collided perfectly with the gritty, tarnished looks of the punk scene.

The Show: Tracy Reese
The Theme: Afro-Cuban Influence
The Colors: Black and White, Scarlet, Lapis, Sugar Pink, Sea Green, Yellow
The Collection’s Best Look: To the beats of a three piece Cuban band, Tracy Reese sent a flurry of color, energy, and sensuality down the runway for spring. Like a painted scene straight from 1950’s Cuba, beautiful women drenched in bold hues, wearing crop tops and flared midi-skirts, cropped trousers, and ultra-feminine dresses danced down the catwalk. The patterns, prints, and shapes that Reese has always been known for were obviously present, along with a strong side dish of Afro-Cuban inspiration.

The Show: Catherine Malandrino Spring/Summer 2014
The Theme: St.Tropez, Resort Chic
The Color Palette: Shades of Pink, Red, Green Blue, Nautical Prints, White, and Black.
The Collection’s Signature, Standout Look: While there were traces of Malandrino’s signature eyelet knits, the blue jumpsuit absolutely stole the show. Comprised of a harem pant and a stunning silk trimmed hood, this piece represents chic versatility which elegantly possesses the evening wear category as well. Whether paired with sneakers or stiletto heels, worn on a Caribbean resort or through the concrete streets of New York, the sharp yet easy silhouette of the piece allows for a slick and modern, yet timeless look, in all locations, for all occasions!

The Show: Katya Leonovich
The Color Palette: Multi-Colored Prints, Grey, Lavender, Pink, Beige
The Collection’s Best Look: The Katya Leonovich collection featured several high end fabrication elements including taffeta, chiffon, crinkled linen, silk, patchwork and leather. Each piece offered unique ruffles and draping that gave the pieces a deconstructed, yet elegant feel. The standout was a hand-printed chiffon tunic with crinkled linen pants, while the show closed with an olive green leather patchwork dress that had the movement of lightness while feeling ethereal.
