Sometimes a necklace is all you need to turn a mundane, everyday outfit into something original and exciting. With that resolution in mind, look no further than Toubab Paris, a jewelry line that will take you and your wardrobe on an adventure with a focus on bright colors, vibrant prints and intricate beading. Each piece is handmade by designer Maud Villaret in France and embodies Villaret’s love of African fabrics and travel. The Trend: All-White Ensembles
For many, adhering to the “no white after labor rule” is a way of life. For decades, the fashion industry scoffed at the restrictive rule, visually proclaiming that wearing white is chic 365 days a year. This season, New York Fashion Week delivered marvelous collections in which model after model donned fabulous all-white white ensembles. From sports wear to resort chic and brands as varied as Rachel Zoe to Calvin Klein, it is clear that sporting an outfit comprised largely of white hues, is the farthest from restrictive.

Stripes, and particularly polka dots, got so big this year that it was unclear if they make make it through another few seasons.
If one does take heed of the runway, however, it shows that they are here to stay through 2014! Stripes are going to be integral to the season’s look. while polka dots, still a popular choice, may not be as prevalent as it was this season, but don’t worry – you’re still on-trend with them. Below are some of my favorite examples of the trend, and catch up on the others from NYFW Spring 2014, including the colors orange, black and white, pastels, paint, and embroidery & ethnic prints.

Ralph Lauren
Inspired by all things mod, Ralph gave this look a bout of masculine edge with a fitted, collar shirt and a necktie; pair stripes with some slightly quirky accents for a stylized look.

Reem Acra
Not your average polka dot, mix the pattern with something else in your wardrobe; just be sure that the colors line up perfectly so that it looks more sophisticated than wacky. Hounds tooth is a great choice, since it’s regained its popularity this past season.

Footwear is one of my absolute favorite fashion-related objects, and I certainly possess more than I can handle! I couldn’t help but be drawn to the footwear choices worn during NYFW by show goers, makeup, hair, and nail artists as well as the publicists and press backstage, and last, but not least, the models themselves, both their own shoes that they wore into the venue, and had to don for the fashion shows or presentations. See the slideshow above for some of my most favorite footwear finds, and they are in order by:
1) show goers; feet are mainly on a grey carpet
2) footwear found backstage is on a darker, almost black carpet
3) the footwear from the spring 2014 collections are staged on everything else
Which pair is your favorite?
